View Full Version : I'm in need of a free host, not many requirements
Relyc 06-04-2001, 10:47 PM Hey, I'm not sure if this is really the right forum, but it seems to be the place where people who can offer hosting will read it :)
I need hosting for my personal site. Essentially it's my portfolio page, displaying my computer graphics, webpages I've done, and such.
What I need:
-A fair amount of space, preferably 50mb or more (in the case of animations and such)
-Domain hosting, as well as at least 1 or 2 subdomains
-FTP access, unlikely but possible in need of more than one account
-Full CGI support
-2 or 3 POP3 accounts
-No banners/popups/ads
-mySQL support
I don't think this is asking all too much, if anyone thinks they could help me out, or knows someone who can, please contact me:
email: relyc@hostileintent.net
ICQ: 37043389
Thanks in advance.
If you dont find free heres the next best :)

Synergy 06-04-2001, 11:06 PM Here's a list of recommended hosts:
www.f5hosting.com
www.servus.ws
www.hostcaters.com
www.hostmatters.com
Just remember, you get what you pay for.
I wouldn't recommond hosts that offer Unlimited Bandwidth for
$9.99

Thanks for the idea, but I checked with that site, and I can't find anything to suit my needs.
I'd like to add, my site is only a personal site, and does not generate any revenue, it isn't worth it, and I can't afford to pay for hosting for the site. So as much as I appreciate your help, links to hosts you pay for don't help.

I think you'll have a hard time finding all of that for free...you'll probably have to give up a few things.

they SUCK!
It's slow LIKE HELL...
It's better not to have a webpage at all, than being hosted with them...(Personal Experience)
Hostking 06-06-2001, 12:37 PM What ever happened to people using Geocities for their personal (free) webpages?
Best Regards,
determinist 06-06-2001, 01:22 PM Basically you're looking for a Ads free, full capabilities free host. Personally i think there no longer had such deal, even for so called "best deal" at portland.co.uk, there's a restriction of 100MB/month!! of transfer (pay after you've exceeded) and their server doesn't works with some of my scripts (I've tried them).. or if you managed to find a Ads free host now, they're most likely to place Ads soon or later..
There's this thread.. http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=11648.. Why not have a talk with them, it's quite close to your requests.. hope it helps..
koolguru 06-06-2001, 01:29 PM Those Requirements Are Reasonable For Paid Host & Too Much For Free Hosts.

Best Regards,
This isn't a crappy eyesore website, or at least not in many people's opinions =)
Say for example you wanted a webpage and graphics made for your company. What would you say about a deal coming from someone who can't get a better host than geocities?

No, they still exist, my site has been moving from free host to free host =\
For anybody interested, my site will be at www.kalenic.net once the domain registy is updated.
