I have experience in reseller account. Cpanel and WHM so on.
I am thinking of going colocation or dedicated servers.
But I am still a newbie at Red hat, just pickup a books "Red Hat linux 8 Unleashed" a weeks ago.

My question is:
There are three kind of service , fully managed, semi managed and unmanaged... If I go with unmanage thats mean I have to manage the server myself right? What skill do I need to have? Maybe suggest more books for me to read...hehe I am fast learner.

Thanks
from, YEE

I would pay for managed.. especially if there is only one of you. Having no previous sysadmin skills and then going at it by yourself is a trip i wouldn't recommend you doing.

As far as HOW to learn it, download Redhat & install Cpanel on your own. If you can do that, your on your way. You will want to power down your system, crash it and recover (just unplug to practice recovery from power failure or server interuption).

Books, there are tons of them but nothing beats hands on.

get your feet wet!

Nocster offers a good managed server. Check them out get a redhat book and learn some commands learn how to install and recompile programs.

Give away some free accounts to learn some stuff then you can pretty much learn as you go.

plus you will find plenty of friendly people here glad to help you out on your way

If you do end up building a system from scratch or run an unmanaged server, just know to stay away from RedHat 8. It's not good for hosting applications yet. 7.2 and 7.3 are the ones you need to learn about for now.

The best way to do it is this.

Reseller, then managed, then semi-managed and then unmanaged.
