I have mod_auth and have written the .htaccess file correctly. When I access the protected the folder it request username and password and none of what I entered is accepted.

I use the Linux system passwd file (declared in my , it doesn't work with the shadow password file either. So how can I create the password file for directory protection?

Linux RedHat 8.0, no cpanel..
