Feedback from people in these forums is extremely important to us as a hosting company. Our customers and the market are the prominent force behind the structure of services and pricing.

By simple research, one can conclude that:

- MOST Web sites have very little traffic.

- MOST Web sites are static in nature.

- MOST web sites will never see the day of 1 GB data transfer within a month.

It is important to understand the context of our post (ONE FREE WHOLESALE VIRTUAL HOST ACCOUNT) and our philosophy.

First.
Our customers (a paying customer or someone who has taken advantage of a special offer) will NOT receive an outrageous bill for bandwidth because bandwidth would be brought to the customer's attention BEFORE it became a "billing" issue.

Our entire business model is structured for DESIGNERS / DEVELOPERS and Resellers who host MULTIPLE DOMAINS.

Our BULK HOSTING program (900MB Disk Space, 60GB data transer w/ unlimited multiple domains), provides our target market with the means to host their CUSTOMERS at a fixed monthly rate with no hidden fees. (in other words, IN BULK)

Why would we want a few high bandwidth sites to effect the rest of the customers? That would not make sense.

If you take advantage of our ONE YEAR FREE WHOLESALE account, there is no catch and no money to pay unless you exceed the bandwidth or disk space requirements. (you will be notified of excessive or near excessive bandwidth usage and moved to another server before you would ever receive a bill for $500).

I really don't like to do this, but I'm sure that unless its mentioned some unlucky visitor will may miss it or miscalculate it.

Per figures on the site WebShowHost.com is charging US$100 per gigabyte (GB) over your alloted bandwidth allowance of 1gb, this is most overpriced bandwidth I have seen on the Internet. The industry standard is around $6 per gig, if you look around you can get for as low as $2 per gig even on virtual accounts.

The account they are giving away for free only includes 1gb bandwidth allowance. There are many sites that do go over 1gb per month despite what he says. I remember when I first started on the Internet (early 97) with a joke site, I contacted a provider who had bandwidth limitations of 1gb, I enquired, he said my site would be fine and that only 0.1% went over the limit. Regardless I did not go with that provider and went with another one, anyways my small joke site ate between 1.5gb-2gb/month after the first month. Sites grow and any with healthy traffic (20,000 plus page views per month) will probably exceed 1gb bandwidth allowance, this site does over 30GB. Meaning to host this site with them would cost a whooping $2900.00 per month, other paid hosts could easily do it for less than $100. Even if your site is low traffic (i.e. below 1gb) a simple attack (hitting browser reload for a long period) could easily pump your bandwidth above 1gb per month.


MOST web sites will never see the day of 1 GB data transfer within a month.


Most hosts I speak to say between 15-20% go over or reach 1gb.

And I thought Alabanza is the most expensive. :D

Alabanza - $10/gig.

But alabanza charges no less than $1755 just for getting a server with a decent config online (Base server price (1600), +1 9GB hard drive (150), +1 virtual DNS(5)) if you pay by the month (which most freelancers are apt to do).. ;) AND, they're $600/month after that..Granting, they offer 50GB of bandwidth per month, that's still a WHOLE LOT of money to get a host up and running...Frankly, if I've got the money to do that, I've got the money to get my own leased line and host my own servers on it...

For the above, I was just comparing bandwidth. (ceteris paribus)

Probably because the advertizing says they shold shell out that kind of money.. Heck, for $600/month I can have a T1 run to my basement and host from there (gotta love houses that're cross-zoned commercial! :D)

I was surprised when I checked alabanza's pricing. I've not seen pricing that high in asking around the co-location facilities in the Detroit area..

The forum appears to be well managed and by no means do we want to alienate ourselves from this forum or engage in questionalbe behavior.

However, I am dissapointed regarding your post today and the way it was handled. I felt that it is important to address the issue with you first via e-mail before posting a reply to the thread.

It appears that you did not read my reply to the bandwidth issue.

In your defense, I am sure you are vigiliant on behalf of your members with individuals who are scamming or attempting to soak customers. I understand that and I can appreciate that.

Please understand that our SPECIAL OFFER of ONE YEAR FREE WHOLESALE virtual host account is a "taste" of what a customer can expect when purchasing our BULK HOSTING ACCOUNT. We deal with developers/designers on a daily basis. One fear our market has is exactly what you attempted to address...what is that?

Dealing with companies that do not perform according to promises.

Therefore, we decided to offer the WHOLESALE virtual host account on a promotional basis (host one domain) for FREE - ONE YEAR so the POTENTIAL customer can try, verify and prove our services, support and business ethic prior to PAYING MONEY and TRANSFERRING THEIR CUSTOMERS to our servers.

Why would we deal unfairly with these POTENTIAL PAYING CUSTOMERS? That does not make any sense and we clarified that in our post.

I hope this e-mail clarifies the issue.

I am dissapointed with the following:

1. You did not put more thought into our post and written comments.

2. I did not receive an e-mail notification (which we have been receiving) when you replied to our thread.

3. An implication was made in your post that we are attempting to scam these potential customers.

The bottom line is, we are protecting our customers and ourselves by limiting the data transfer for this free promotional offer.

We want to leave a good impression and experience in the minds of those that not only sign up for the promotional offer with the expectation that they become paying customers.
