There is but a single post (http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79457&highlight=onsmart) on this site regarding OnSmart, and I'm curious as to what people's experience with them has been at this point.

Specifically, I'm looking for people's experience with their Virtual Private Server service.

I have a friend who had a virtual private server at OnSmart and during the period where he had the VPS he was all praises.

Anyone else? Even experiences with their shared hosting?

It's been a while, so hopefully someone will have some experience with OnSmart.

I ran accross their site this afternoon while looking for a dedicated server host. Their VPS service looks nice, even though I'd like a host that offers Gentoo as an OS.

Does anyone have any experience with their hosting?

Both threads have posts with OnSmart Clients.

I spent so much money trying different hosts when I experienced OnSmart I said to myself: Hey! this is finally the good one... don't loose any more time and ressources looking around ;-)

It will make something like 6 months now... that I am hosted at OnSmart. All I can say are good things about them. The only downtimes I had so far were the ones that I provoked myself on my VPS needed for different software installation issues related to cPanel.

From my own web hosting experience (CIRCA 1995), I never been so well hosted. Therey are the BEST. Simply the BEST. Outstanding live support and all that... Friendly and professionnal staff. They are something else than just another "Nice Cute and Cutting Edge Web Hosting Skin"

OnSmart not only look professionnal... they ARE Professionnals ;-)

Yeah I'm hosting with them now - so far very good support, haven't had much time to judge the server performance yet.

I'm just about to buy their VPS 801 package.

I agree. Had a few teething problems but this was because I used Confixx which is a pile of ****e. They are upgrading to CPanel for me as I type this. I'm very pleased with them (just pissed at Confixx)

Just updating.

I'm kinda pissed at them at the moment. My VPS has been down for 12 days, and it's been almost impossible to get a definitive answer from them about when it will be back up (or even what, exactly, is wrong with it and what's being done to fix it). I'm quickly losing patience. Until now they've been excellent, but this is far from 99.9% uptime.

And yes, Confixx is a piece of ****, go with cPanel - they were able to give it to me for $10/mo after I asked them to install it after using Confixx for 2 days.

At he beginnings I only had praises and nice things to say about OnSmart but since I moved to a real dedicated server... my opininon changed.

Their support has always been friendly but... the problem is that they always to "escalate the problem to the Admin" and where is the Admin in fact?
What the use of the most charming staff if the they always have to ask their Admin to this and that?

I would definitively run away from the Virtuozo VPS technology. I only had troubles with that. Also your will end up paying way too much for what it's worth and all the troubles.

Go get yourself a real dedicated server. This is your best bet :-)

Scott is a super guy with quaility equipment and datacenter.

I don't think you will have any problems there.
