They are a very new company...I've read a lot of posts in FreeWebSpace.net saying how their services are up and down, when they're up, they're excellent, when they're down, obvously not excellent.
Does anyone have a site hosted with them? Just curious. 14 bucks aint' half bad...22 bucks CDN a year, (They claim it's a one time setup fee, and free from then on..)should I just test them out?
Thanks.

It seems as if they're trying to get as many customers as possible over the next month then start charging you. So basically the $14 will cover your first month of apparent "free hosting" which you'll have to renew as of July anyway.
<snip>
Until 29 June 2001, host your own domain on our Unix server, FREE OF CHARGE. No banners, no ads.
</snip>
I'd beware of getting caught up in anything permanent.

Yeah, I know...I've emailed them twice asking them how much I will have to pay to renew my services...Apparently, it's free for life as long as I sign up before June 29th.
Apparently, they will not charge a penny if I sign up before June 29th.
I'm quite skeptical too, but they appear to be telling the truth. Then, again you can't trust everyone...

Here are 2 e-mail I received as a responses.
First
Thank you for your email.
> Apparently, it's $14 a year, until June something.
- No, it's not. The $14 is a single setup fee.
> I'd like to know what the price will be after that date in June when your hosting services cease this promotion?
- After the 29th June 2001 we will offer different hosting plans formula, based on a monthly/yearly rates. But if you signup before this date, your hosting plan(s) will remain free. If you stick to the 250MB of space and 5000MB bandwidth, there will be no additional costs.
> How many MySQL DBs can I have?
- One database per account with unlimited tables. But you can setup a subdomain name to get another database.
> And do you have SMTP services?
- No.
Before you ask, for additional space/bandwidth we charge:
Additional 100MB web space: $2 per month
Additional 1000MB bandwidth: $3 per month
Thank you again for your enquiry.

cost in the future Your hosting plan will remain free for life!
You will only have to pay something when you request additional web space or
bandwidth.

It's hard to understand how a host could possibly host you for life with a one time setup fee of $14 offering 250mb of web space and 5gb of bandwidth per month.
They are guaranteed to lose out offering this. Have a look at their terms of service. No host out of their right mind would be able to offer such a deal without some sort of "escape".

If Directoris.com can confirm that they aren't going to post ads or banners at a later stage (I've just enquired about this via email), then I'm definitely going to take the $14 gamble. I'd be interested to hear what is the latest news from the members of this forum who signed up.
Cheers

I signed up with them and at that ime I thought it was 14.00/year. It's only a one-time fee and then it's free for life
Does anyone know about using the e-mail there. After creating an account is the @"location" the name of your url address?
