Is www.rackshack.net down, or is it just me having trouble accessing it this morning?

Their main site is really really slow but it could just be the server at which their main site is on. WHT is hosted on the same network and it is reachable though.

It could be having problems. WHT is very slow for me right now.

It's perfect for me on my cable modem in chicago. All my sites are perfect speed on my server. :-)

Network Outage 03/07/03

Today, we experienced a substantial attack that resulted in a partial outage of our network.

I am unable to provide detailed information of the attack at this time.

The entire Network Team and Network Operations Centers worked very hard to bring this to a resolution.

yikes, that was a hell of an outage. somebody must have pulled a serious boob job there huh?

It was over 3 hrs. I started thinking it's a terrorist attack at some point lol

That was fun.

Whew WHT is back online for me I was experiencing seriouis withdrawal syptoms all day today.

RS still aren't releasing details of the outage though. I was sitting in the IRC chatroom and there were accusations of DOS attacks, RS's closure, Iraqi customers turning bad, almost everything. It all seems to be working now, but still no real explanation.

The Headsurfer will give you an update as soon as the details are available to him.

I believe Rackshack website is at www.rackshack.net and not www.rackshack.com but then again that is still down.

I do not remember that there was a uptime guarantee from Rackshack but I could be wrong.

it was only a partial outage.

my site which is currently on one of there servers was never affected. It is using a verio backbone apparrently. not sure what the ones that were down are using (WHT seems to be routed through Williams)

We were lucky. Downtime was under an hour.

It was partial, only one of my servers was affected and it was intermitent.

Well that was interesting...

My WHT addiction almost drove me mad today. Then it came back and was just sooo fast.. threads would just *snap* up. Eventually everyone piled onto it and now it's back to is normal self :)

Looks like everyone in the market's taken their downtime now (nocster, dedicated now, rackshack...), so lets not do all that again, hmmkay?

If your server is still down, you will need to submit a trouble ticket. The outage is no longer going on. And the outage was a partial outage as Val has said, not our entire network was effected, just portions.

well mine part of "network" was affected for around 4 hrs.. :(

It's funny how when some providers have network problems there are 100's of upset posts, but when Rackshack goes down for many, only a few courteous questions and inquiries. Maybe it's because WHT is offline at the same time to prevent the mass hysteria while the network is down?? :)

None yet. However, it must be some type of odd DOS attack. Rackshack has Pings and Tracerts blocked now too.

Who knows... still waiting for HeadSurfer to give us the news.

our boxes were unaffected, but I couldn't get WHT.

I know they are up cuz I could lynx the sites from one of my servers that work...

Could they have blocked access from certain countries/IPs? I'm from singapore...

Anyone knows what's happening or what I can do? My DNS servers are down!!! Crap.

Can't load www.rackshack.net for over 12 hours now.. Just got access back to WHT since this morning

RS's site is still down for me 1:30 AM EST but my server with them though down for 3 hours is up and running.

Not a guarantee I would want to buy as they all cost money.

My primeserver has in 9 months had one recordable network outage of less than an hour - and was untouched yesterday. That's impressive....

My newer server suffered its first outage in 3 months - a couple of hours.

Of course I have been lucky. Some folks have been on the wrong end of a bad router or picked a lemon as a server. But I think most can't believe their luck.

All the other connectivity problems I have had turned out to be my end - doh!
