Vortech 06-01-2001, 08:03 PM We are getting ready to start using CPanel as one of our control panels and have a qustions. Does any one know where i can find a demo of the backend part. We call VDI not much help there today said to call back on monday.
Who would be the best to get it from. Burst.net, VDI, and is there any one else at the 99.95 price or better. We are looking to resell it to our DED. Users as well.
Also whats some good and bad points on it. Like bugs or problems you have had.
Any one with a demo of the backend of CPanel would be great to get a link as i could check it out. Also does CPanel support resellers?

Any resellers of CPanel please e-mail me any info as well as we would like to resell CPanel also would like mroe info from some one at Burst.net if they can on here on there ver.
AlaskanWolf 06-01-2001, 08:23 PM right now the only ones supporting 7.1 is Burst
Vortech 06-01-2001, 08:27 PM Well that puts burst closer to the top.. hehe

AlaskanWolf 06-01-2001, 08:32 PM yup same old
They along with about 3-4 other companies are making control panels which will be released later this year, i hear jaguarpc.com's panel sounds very promising
Planet Z 06-01-2001, 09:08 PM I wish someone would port CPanel to FreeBSD - it really shouldn't be that hard.
*kicks RedHat*
cahostnet 06-01-2001, 09:26 PM Yeah, we've been through this before. The market for FreeBSD isn't that great. I wish someone would too. I like FreeBSD and it's more of a server. Burstnet does support 7.1, I wish the price wasn't so steep. I mean comeone people, it shouldn't cost that much for such a software. And then again, I'm not a programmer, hehe!! :)

You may want to email burst about this, there may be one. About a year ago or so Nick (cpanel programmer) was attempting to put the Cpanel on our FreeBSD machine. Not all of it was working, but I know some parts were.
cahostnet 06-02-2001, 02:49 PM Be there done that! Cpanel doesn't work on FreeBSD and they don't have plans on porting it either. At least that was what BurstNet told me. I have been looking for a CP that will run on FreeBSD and the only one I've found is plesk, webmin and smarthostingtools which is new. Maybe BurstNet can enlighten us on the subject.
Vortech 06-02-2001, 06:26 PM FreeBSD would be much better then RedHat. But i can't wait any longer them to get off therA$$ to port it over to FreeBSD so RedHat it may have to be.
Does any one have a demo of the back end i would really like to chack this out before buying. Also what does the reseller side of CPanel look like. Is it like the main backend of CPanel..
cahostnet 06-02-2001, 08:16 PM I hear you buddy. My feelings exactly. I think someone had a link to the demo on the board. If you do a search for CPanel I'm pretty sure you'll get a ton. I've checked it out before but I can't remember what exactly it did. If you find it post it here. I'm also wondering how the resellers side of things work.
Vortech 06-02-2001, 11:05 PM Yea i found it and e-mailed them but nothing back from them on the demo. It does not seem to work any more:( You would think burst or vdi could have a demo but not a fully working demo just so you can see how it looks and works to see if you love it or hate.. hehe
Mark Vockler 06-04-2001, 12:57 PM Ventures Online has a static demo of WHM available at:
http://www.venturesonline.com/whm/
It's not a functioning demo, so you won't be able to create any accounts, etc. but it should give you a pretty good idea of how the real thing would work. Skins for the WHM itself are currently not officially supported.
There isn't a built-in method to create a demo of WHM at the moment due to security risks. The upcoming version might allow for that, but it's going to look different anyway.
Both the dedicated root user as well as resellers have access to the same interface, but with various sets of features available (depending on the options allowed for each reseller).
Hope this helps.
