I am looking for web hosting- I need to do a quick transfer of a domain to a new host which offers .asp and mySQL so that I can use my snitx forum there. Fairly cheap and I would like unlimited bandwidth- (if possible)
and good suggestions ?

If any MODs are online they can move it to the correct forum, if not,
Try doing what drhonk said and post it in Web Hosting Requests forum, more hosts will reply there with quotes,
John

I'll give you a friendly warning about unlimited bandwidth:

Ain't no such thing.

Most providers offering unlimited bandwidth (about 99.5% of them) will have a clause in their client agreement that -=does=- limit the amount of bandwidth that you can use. It may be in small print, buried under a flood of Old High Legalese, but it's there. Go with one of these providers and you may find yourself with your account cut off and no refund. Many hosts like this are aboe to stay in business for about a year, then they either raise their prices or change their hosting plans to limit the bandwidth and disk space that individual accounts can use. Either way, be very careful.

Also, if you want hosts to give you competing bids, post in the Web Hosting Requests forum.

Before you look for hosting, you should understand there is no such thing is unlimited (diskspace, bandwidth).

Dean,

I'm not so sure about asp hosting providers that I would recommend but as mentioned, stay far away from hosting providers that offer unlimited bandwidth. It will save you some big headaches down the road if your site pushes limits that the host has but doesn't claim to enforce. Usually if you dig deep in their TOS or AUP pages, you'll find that they in fact do have actual limits and possibly stiff penalties.

Also be careful of resellers and hosts that reply to you in the requests forum. Run a search on their member names. See where they post most often. Read post by them in other forums such as the reseller or dedicated forums. It will give you better insight.

Furthermore, beware of low ball pricing to gain clients. Many quality hosting providers, many on these forums, will not even reply to you in the request forums. They have better things to do like run their business. So keep your options open.

Good luck. If you come up with some potential hosts, post them hear and perhaps we can shed some more light on them for you.

Good luck! :)
