View Full Version : Ftp Error
simph 03-06-2003, 08:38 AM I keep getting this message
450 Error during write to data connection: Invalid argument :bawling:
I tried logging a support message with my host's helpdesk, but  those morons are upto nothing. Please ..elp.
Thanks in advance. :cartman:
Ya I know. I luv smileys ;)
anon-e-mouse 03-06-2003, 08:45 AM How can we help you? This is problem with your host, or your ftp setup...and as you don't even mention the host, there is nothing we can do.
sprintserve 03-06-2003, 09:16 AM Try calling, email, IM, open help tickets and so on. Exhaust all means with the host. If you don't get responses in a reasonable timeframe, you know perhaps it's time to look for one that will.
simph 03-06-2003, 09:17 AM I host my own site on DSL. Apache and ProFTPD. Was able to set up certain things. But yet a newbie by any standards.
I Connect to my site using cuteFTP and am able to see all files but when I try to download the above message crops up in the log and nothin more. :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:
Can't somebody elpppp.
No I won't give my site IP. Have had enuf problems by doing that already.
NexDog 03-06-2003, 09:19 AM This error normally means that the file is locked in an editor or something like that. I would say the issue was on your side though....
simph 03-06-2003, 09:20 AM Damn must be the same problem right. Is it my client's fault. ????? FTP software that is.
simph 03-06-2003, 09:23 AM Mmmm Can't be locked up thing right. I min not allll my files. And at two places ???

lol Just thought I point out both quotes.
In any case, I have to agree with NexDog.
anon-e-mouse 03-06-2003, 09:53 AM Maybe simph needs to replace the staff on his help desk ;)
Eric Lim 03-06-2003, 10:07 AM I'm completely lost! Is this some kind of game that left hand is hosting right hand? I am serious, I read this thread three times and I got nothing at the end.
anon-e-mouse 03-06-2003, 10:10 AM Your guess is as good as mine cyber
simph 03-06-2003, 10:16 AM Yuckk
Thats what comes from trying to show off.
Short explanation is
TWO SITES
One on a hosting provider
One on my own comp on DSL
Both showing same old problem.
Hope ya'll get it. :(
I dont wanna be a dork :P
Damn you guys are fast BTW
sprintserve 03-06-2003, 10:21 AM Then it looks like what Nexdog said. Try rebooting and retrying, or using another FTP client.
Eric Lim 03-06-2003, 10:27 AM See not to offense you or anything. First, you told us that your host were ignoring you when you couldn't do what you want with your ftp thingy. And after several posts you told us that you actually host your own site. So then when NexDog answered your question, you came out with "is it my clients' fault".
Three three senerios combined together don't make sense to me. I am not trying to be arrogant, at all!
That's fine. I zip my mouth. Hope you solve the problem.
Netrilli 03-06-2003, 10:31 AM Try a different FTP program first.
ANMMark 03-06-2003, 11:41 AM I apologize but I still cannot make any sense of this issue.
I mean, in order to get help, without going away mad, you have to include as much detail as you can. Otherwise, it would be very difficult for anyone to help you.
