Anyone think they have a decent welcome e-mail? (And willing to share it? ;))
Writing a new one and want to see how some other people do theirs. :) I will be posting our new one as a template for anyone who wants to use it when I am finished.
Thanks

They have quite a nice one actually, try their demo --> it's there.
turboweb 03-05-2003, 05:36 PM so do you use HTML or TEXT for your emails? Is it safe to finally assume people use HTML compliant email readers??

Lesli 03-05-2003, 05:49 PM Regarding sending HTML welcome letters:
Don't do that. Or if you do, let the client choose to receive an HTML or a text-only welcome letter.
I have an email client that **can** read HTML, but I have it toggled off. My reasoning is:
1) HTML email, particularly anything that uses images, can take up more bandwidth than simple text. I don't want to send HTML-formatted mail, nor receive it. It uses up bandwidth I'd rather use to serve my site's content.
2) in my experience, 95% of the HTML-formatted email I've received in the past has been spam.
Don't assume that people will accept HTML email, even if they have the machinery to do so.
aah-jim 03-05-2003, 06:26 PM Sign up with us and you'll get our welcome email. ;)
Seriously, we just modified the one that came with PerlBill to suit our needs.
nelson 03-05-2003, 09:05 PM I agree, try phpManager. The Welcome letter that you get with that is quite good.
That is what we use.
Acsiak - Andrew 03-06-2003, 09:55 AM Yeah. Just try the demo for PerlBill, phpManager and any others --> Then take their welcome letter and amend it to your own needs & wants. That's what we have done and our clients prefer it to the actual old one we sent out which we wrote by hand rather than using a standard template of somesort.
Also about the HTML, I'd recommend not. There are a lot of e-mail places that don't accept HTML and even those who do, some disable it. Plus I'm sure your clients would prefer a smaller e-mail from you, since I'm not sure about your clients but mine actually print their confirmation e-mail off & prefer it small, easy to refer to and very helpful.
Netrilli 03-06-2003, 09:58 AM Once we purchased PHPManager, I just edited it to fit the needs of my clients. It's very good actually as it is, but a little tweaking can't hurt :)
