Yes, you can do it with an emulator like Chili!Soft ASP (http://www.chilisoft.com/). I don't know what are the cost involved though.

Yes, it can be done. <<EDIT>>
Chilisoft was its own company, then bought by Cobalt, so cobalt could offer ASP with their linux Raq servers, and then Sun bought cobalt. So now its a Sun company.
The cost is about $744 per server with the spice pack. <<EDIT>>

But how's the performance comparing to running asp in windows NT/2000 server ? I'm a little skeptical when running something that actually built for different environment.

Well Chilisoft is platform independent. We have found that Linux Red Hat is more stable in general then NT boxes, and will also look into offering Cold Fusion on Linux. Plus more free tools area available for linux, which benefits users.

CWIhosting, I notice you have a "100% uptime guarantee!" (well not really with the 20 minute downtime clause).
I will be interested to see if you can maintain that with Chile!Soft. Our experience has not been so good, then again it was on a RAQ XTR. We set up a few sites and immediately ran into trouble with the caspeng process. It would eventually reach 100% resource use and kill the box. Because of this we stopped supporting ASP on XTR's. We also have not bought the solution to put on our Vanilla Linux boxes because we don't want to pay $700 for the same results. Anyway, good luck with it.
Craig, look at halcyonsoft.com also.

Boy do the moderators get carried away here. I’m not advertising, but answering questions. And its not even for sale yet on our site. Simply stating $25/month for decent bandwidth and storage for an ASP plan would be reasonable for most hosts, and $744 for the software from Sun.
Anyhow, We have no problem paying out for the uptime. If your site goes down, billing pays out when you report it to them. This causes the staff to try and keep the site up as much as humanly possible. I do understand your point though. This is why we do not use Cobalt. They tend to have poor memory management when doing anything besides hosting standard web sites anyhow. But rather Standard linux boxes with at least 1000Mhz and 1GB RAM, so that may help.
UmBillyCord, thanks for your comments, I have passed them on to the team working on this ChiliSoft. If you want to know how it pans out, feel free to email us in a month or so. We decided against trying it on the cobalts for the above mentioned reasons.

Unless someone directly asks about your services, you are not allowed to plug anything of your own and must answer/discuss the question in general terms. Simple as that.

thats true, however php is pretty standard, pretty much every linux host has it. Their are about 1 million ASP developers out their though.
