Hi there, I just wanted to do a quick blurp about the host I use, they just moved to a new plan where they offer yearly hosting at $40 on a unix Server.

They are resellers, however they are working on getting their own on a co-located deal.

Check them out, they have been pretty good to me.

Not bad for 20gb a month transfer
I just wonder how they make their money or would they last?

They are not really into making money... they already have the service being bought for their current customers, and any little bit that comes in only supports all of their community service sites.

As i thought they are a swindle :(
Some days ago I purchased an "Ultimate Unix Plan", cgi, php, mysql, Unlimited space, 20Gb/month, for only $40 yearly!
Yesterday I finished of uploading all the files (about 400Mb), and today i get this mail:

We here at Webmanix Hosting have a strict policy for Acceptable use of its
servers we have found you in Violation of the policy. Your account has been
terminated and all moneys paid to Webmanix Hosting has been forfeited to us
as a setup fee. Please read the link that we have sent you
http://www.webmanixhosting.com/acceptableuse.html.

The files weren't warez, weren't porno, nothing illegal...
Conclusion: DON'T PURCHASE AN ACCOUNT HERE
If u cannot give a service why are u offering it?
Of course you are not going to view my money...

They're definately from donhost, tupla when i click on the AUP link above, it send me to a donhost error page. So have you demand a reply, what's the outcome?

Reply to the top post, MPD, if they continue to offer such *attractive* package, very possibly they might encounter some up keep difficulty in many aspect after their colo deal.

I'm guessing MPD has a vested interest in this company (ie. he works there).

They say I had warez and crackz, but that is not true, i only had shareware programs and legal patches... They cannot delete a site because they THINK a thing, without talk with the owner...
The real reason I think was that they were going to lose money with my account, but they are going to loose money with most of the accounts! So probably they look for an apology to close big sites and get their money...
Anyways, if you have a little site about cats or flowers (not cannabis ;)) maybe it's a good host for you, who knows...

I checked with webmanixhosting and recived the following readme text from a Dune2000.zip that was on this server

_____
Dune2000 CD-Protection/Multiplayer/Game crack:

copy Crack2000.exe in your dune2000 directory and start it.
Have fun !!

Dune2000 cracked by AVE of TNTC !
_______

they had asked if this file was something that would get them in hot water and since the US Attorney generals office of web investigations has and does prosecute on files with such intention I advesed them to take percautions.

I am sure that they will forward this zip along to anyone that requests it.

First: That file is not illegal, it doesn't contain any copyrigthted code, doesn't crack any shareware protection, only can be used by the legitim owners of the game. Anyways I dont wanna have a legal discussion with you...
Second: I didn't have any "dune2000 directory", that files was on a zip, do you accustom to open the files of the people?
Third:We are no stupid, YOU are webmanixhosting. I remember you that you write me an email when i was looking for cheap bandwidth...

I'm not worried because they haven't got my money, i only have lost time... and i dont wanna lose more.
Goodbye

You wouldn't get the money because I'd cancel the transaction...
Anyways, as you say you have cancelled the transaction (less work for me and less charges for you).
