Webhostingtalk.com and Hostinvestigator.com were down yesterday (most of the day) for me. Maybe Matt can't pick a decent host from a hole in his ass.

It worked fine for me and many other people. Its on you end.

It worked for me whole day, although I live in the UK (so it worked all night/early morning for the US).

You'll learn some of the reasons that it may not be the fault of a site if you can't connect to it.

You could also do your share to reduce stupidity by phrasing remarks in the form of a question (like "was the site down yesterday, I couldn't get in") with civil language instead of broadcasting your ignorance to the wold. No doubt that's why you didn't even use a name, you knew you had something to be ashamed of.

Have to agree with Judge Judy on that. But I dure dont see you making a site that can do the same as webhostingtalk.com or hostinvestagator.com . if you dont like it make ur own site. Matt is a good guy leave him alone. (I should get promoted to a full member there Matt)

It was a full moon yesterday.

I couldn't get here yesterday either, and i tried all day, and I have 2 interent connections, 1st one is @home cable and second is a back up on Netcom 56K.


And you become a full member after 50 posts, atleast that's the way it works on other boards.

I also was unable to get on later in the day or last night. No problems with other sites I tried. I didn't try to determine where the fault was, but then I also didn't accuse anyone of being at fault :-)

I also could not connect to webhostingtalk.com yesterday. My ISP is AT&T, could have been an issue with them, but I did not have trouble connecting to any other websites.

i couldnt get on either yesterday. Does anyone know how to become a full member, does it do anything that u cant do as a junoir member.

I think as busy as this board is, it was apparent they were down yesterday. No postings until they were able to get back on today! Last posts were on the 15th, looks like all is well now though.

Just to stick by 2 pennies worth in. As this is a board about hosting, people visiting should have the savy to understand why a site might be down, and to work out whether it is the site, or a transit problem. In short, trace a route to the site to see if it is them, or some overloaded router at an ISP.

Any other site targeting normal home users would need to be worried about loss of trade due to inaccessibility. However, I don't think Matt should worry, as this site is targeted to people who should know the ins and outs of hosting. And the inherant (sp?) shortcomings of the Internet as a medium.

The distinction between junior member and full member is just an arbitratily chosen number of posts made. Thus, it is largely meaningless. The quality of the posts is far more important than the quantity. I look to see what someone says, not how often they speak. That's what I consider important.

You're right Many of the people here should know about connectivity problems. Howeverm we also have beginners who do not. I have a page on my site that explains why. It originated on my informational resource site long ago. It was easier than explaining to every individial who had occasional problems connecting and blamed it on the site.

I also had problems from over here in Australia as well. However, it was *only* the site that was down (everything else seemed to be fine) so I ran a few pings and traceroutes - which unfortunately were inconclusive.

What they did tell me however was that one of the routers (which I think is the one running into DN) was occasionally overloaded at times (getting extremely long ping times). However, even when the ping times were low I couldn't get in, so it could have been either a router problem or a server config problem.

I think we'll leave it to Matt/Admin to elaborate on the problem.

Either way, you get the point. IF this site was down, or at least unavailable to some areas, it shouldn't be considered the end of the world (always check for futher proof of that before getting all excited). Take a deep cleansing breath, and try back later or the following day.
