Hello,

We are thinking about getting a dedicated server. We would like to know which one is better 4webspace or rackshack. Rackshack seem cheaper but we already have a virtual hosting account @ tera-byte that has only been down around 5 minutes in the time that we have had our hosting (2months).

I was just wondering if rackshack would be better getting. They offer more space more ram and more features for $99 per month compared to 4webspace.

Any info about realiability would also be good.

Thankyou
Lynks

well, there already have been many posts regarding this topic.. but i would like to help you.

rackshack should be a choice when you a raq guru because their support technicians could not answer you more than where is perl.. whereas when it comes to 4webspace, they have an excellent support system.

considerin what you pay both of them for a year is below:

RackShack:
250 + 99*3 + 199*9 = 250 + 297 + 1791= 2338

4webspace:
199*12 + 111 for ram = 2399

Only Sixty bucks less, but when it comes to ips..

4webspace is 62 ips for 20$/month where as raqshack..

now its all upon you.. whether you go for money or for support..

I think so 4webspace.com is a lot affordable and best on all aspects whether it might be support or price..

No ! $99 is for RaQ 3, and $199 is for RaQ 4i .They are not related. If you signed up for a Raq3, it's just $99 every month.

I think 4webspace is unbeatable, they will even phone the Cobalt when there are problems with your raq. But Rackshack don't even bother to answer your questions sometimes.

4webspace:
199*12 + 111 for ram = 2399

This is wrong actually its $2499

And does this mean it has 256mb of ram

Ha..ha.. it's so funny! You can surely just open their website (www.rackshack.net) and do your cehking before even posting?

I'd choose 4webspace.com .... and they do provide awesome support. Called cobalt for us when we had diskspace database problems.

One thing ive noticed 4webspace's ftp access has been slow for 36 hours. Takes ages to upload and if you want to edit it takes an age as well but to save it ... well thats instant and its weird but im sure they'll have it fixed soon.

Are you sure that $99 for the first 3 months and then its $199 for the next 9 months for the raq4i deal? I am planning to get a dedicated server from them. So, is the above true?

Let me get this straight...

for rackshack you have to pay $99 for each of 3 months and $199 for other each of 9 months?

I thought it was $99 each month

If you sign up for the raq 4i for the setup fee and the $99 a month then that is what you pay continuously.
no changes. there is not a $199 a month pricing.

It's 99/mth. after i clarify this doubt with rackshack. Just that we need to pay 250 for the setup and then pay 99 for every month. No such thing as 199/mth after 3 months.

I think you are getting confused with the burst.net deal.

Rackshack is $99 per month.

I have 2 dedicated raq3s with 4webspace.com and 2 raq4is with rackshack.net

My advise is to go with RS's raq4i. You can't go wrong at that price. However, if you are planning to host adult sites then you will probably have to go with 4WS

We have a server @ 4WS (r3) and Servers at RS (r4)

When I was being billed in Canadian $ from 4WS I considered it to be hands down the best deal offered anywhere. But once they started billing us in US currency IMHO they lost the edge seriously. If it was not for this one fact alone we would be continuing to buy our servers at 4WS.

There is no comparison to 4WS tech support and general client care. If you are new to web hosting I would suggest useing 4WS for the first year of operations.

There is no comparison in pricing to raqshack, for $99USD amonth and 300GB bandwidth, a RaQ4 and 256 Installed, who can touch them>?

Here is the breakdown of pricing structure, if we are in error please point out our misguided mathamatics.

TB/4WS- $199.00 USD = $310.00cnd
$3701.00 CND P/Year

raqshack- $99.00 USD = $153.00
$1847.00 CND P/Year
PLUS a 250 USD set up = $387.00
$2234.00 CND P/Year

thats a extra - $1467.00 P/Year for the 4WS RaQ4 with 128 MB ram and 100GB a month.

$122.25 p month extra for less BW and less RAM.

Lets look at how your RaQ3 would comapre in price:

TB/4WS - $99.00 USD = 153.00 x 12 = $1847.00

raqshack- $99.00 USD = $153.00
$1847.00 CND P/Year
PLUS a 250 USD set up = $387.00
$2234.00 CND P/Year

I'll pay an extra $387.00 (set up fee) to have a RaQ4 with double the drive and 8 times the mem and 3 times the BW.

But if you need hand holding on a reg basis,,you might want to start out with TB/4WS.

This is 3 men, 5 woman and 3 little gurls opinions, your milage may vary.
