hi i'm thinking about doing a co-lo at site5, however i'm getting slow responces from their sales dept. is this indicative if their support? has anyone else done a co-lo with them? Also can someone recommend another co-lo company with a datacenter nearby ny? thanks for any leads and words of advice :)

PWEBTECH is in Jersey and has been great so far (1 month). Install and so forth went without hitch.

If you search this forum, you will find details of our install there. I think "PWEBTECH" was in the subject, I started the thread.

We needed an east-cost provider.

The only negative was their lack of up-front published prices and so forth on co-location. But once we got to asking them, the info was good. Jason Silverglate is the guy who we worked with, we met him on this forum...

Nah, site5 is really great. I colocate with them. Support is generally pretty damn fast. Although i would say that sending email to sales dept is kinda slow. Once you get past this hurdle it is well worth your time, besides their rates are excellent.

hey after reading some of the site5 related post i'm re-thinking using site5 for co-lo. their customer service is just as important as their connectivity or their prices. here's the catch; if a companies sales dept. (the guy's who bring in the bacon) aren't responsive then why should i believe that the tech or customer support is any better? also if you pay close attn. to their prices, it's not that great of a deal; rack charges($45) + bandwidth($150 for 50Gigs) is not that far off the standard of $200 - $250. so either they impress me real soon, or can someone please recommend some other company. oh, yeah i looked at PWEBTECH, but no thanks, i need a company who list their prices right up front and in detail!
thanks for past & future responces!

I am a happy customer of Site5. Who says that their sales dept isn't reponsive? You should not base your judgement on just one or two incidents ... I am pretty sure there are a lof of happy customers of Site5 out here and I am one of them for sure. Matt (Site5's owner) has always been available at ICQ when I need to talk with him... he has been very responsive to my needs. And speaking about their network (on nac.net), it has been great... Since my moving out of VDI, I have had at least 99.972% of network uptime (was at 96.9% before the move). I do surely hope this will always be the case...

It may not impress you, but it impresses me especially since I got this free CPanel3/WHM (a save of $99-$199/mo already). But other than that, the fact that they are using NAC.net should make you consider tham... NAC.net has 15 diverse connectivity with total bandwith of 775 mbps (upgrading to 2000 mbps in the future), and boy... I am really happy with my network uptime... :)

cheers,

I am somewhat surprised at a e-mail response I received from your sales department. According to Ed, you want more money to colo a box then to offer a dedicated server. Please contact me to straighten out this misunderstanding.

actually it is not more, [b]<<EDIT>>[b] the price is the same but the features are different more ip and traffic come with a colo than a ded.

If you have any futher questions you can icq me or email me directly at the below contact info. jason@pwebtech.com

hi to date i haven't heard back from site5 sales department after asking some pretty basic ?'s. here is excerpt of email that was sent:
i'm looking for more details for your co-location services. in other words where can i view a copy of your service agreement BEFORE i order your services?

also what are services you charge xtra for?

what happens if the server crashes?

are your data center secured?

how redundant is your power source(s) and your network connection(s)?

if i need access to the physical server what is your procedures to handle this?

while in your data center is my server secure from theft & fire?

and does your insurance cover these events?

these are but a few questions your agreement should answer, that's why i want to see it before agreeing to your services. also are there discounts for paying for the year or 1/2 of the year in
advance? i heard good things about your company, but i
still need to read the fine print. also do you have a
telephone # for sales, tech support and billing?

these are but basic ?'s i asked them and it seems to have stumped them and as for PWEBTECH, they tried to charge me $200 bucks for co-lo but as i said before i like to see it in writing on the website, so maybe when they settle into colocating i'll check them out. i hear their dedicated server is about the same price as their co-location. will keep WHT posted. BTW i think WHT is a great resource for weeding out the bad providers and choosing the best provider for you needs, BIG THANKS GUYS!

I had to wait 2 days for the questions i asked to the site5 sales department. So that isnt the best but I have had to wait longer with other companies before.

I emailed their sales for a quote on May 21st and haven't heard back.

Gee... I would think any "professional" sales department would be eager to address a possible new customer.

However, business is business and as we all know business gets busy. If a sales department does not get back to you within 24 hours, I would recommend calling to see if they even received the message. At that point if they haven't or if the rep was not helpful. Move on.

Food for though... :cartman:

I have two request for answers into the sales department at site5 and after almost a week still no response. I do hear good things about their support just not sure about their sales dept.

When I first emailed to get in touch with them a little while ago, they did take some time to respond... But once I added Matt to my ICQ list he has always been there to answer my questions. You could try doing a followup, or just waiting until they contact you. You might also want to try emailing Matt directly at mlightner@site5.com . Good luck.
