Hello.. I'm not a frequenter on the topic of web hosts, and I'm aware that the solicitation for business isn't exactly the main focus for this forum.

That being said. Besides yourself as a host, who would you recommend to your mother as an affordable web host that's economical and gives a good value?

Curious as to who you hosts in the industry put as the tops in the field.

50% of the hosts are good and 50% of the hosts are bad. Do a search in the forums.

Hmm, recommend a host to our mothers? Depends on if our mom is tech savvy or not. It would have to be a Plesk or another simple control panel host if it was for my mother. It would also have to be a host that has been around for over 3 years. It would have to be a host with services that were not priced too cheap but fairly priced. Possibly a host with a built-in web based site builder. Most definitely it would be a webhosting company owned or managed by a woman. I would sign her up with http://www.futurequest.com and http://www.hostingmatters.com knowing that there would be no problems with the service (they run clean shops), and someone running a shop that she could identify with.

Try RBFTP Networks (the host I use). They offer Linux servers with PHP starting at pretty low prices. Their slogan is 'Professional Business Hosting' - Might be what you are looking for. Only bad thing is that they are in the UK.

Yes, any hosting provider that offers "UNLIMITED" has got to be one of the best! After all, their professionals.

Obviously there are terms regarding what they mean by 'unlimited' and it would be impossible for any host to actually offer 'unlimited because if they did, they would not be in business!

I did not advertise the fact that they offered unlimited. Actually, RBFTP Networks have been (from what I have heard) quite generous regarding their unlimited poilcy. I have heard of clients getting bandwidth in the excess of 80+GB/month and 10GB of diskspace on their plans

One thing I like about them is the fact that they offer less populated servers for websites requiring processor thirsty applications.

yes, i would recommend hostingmatters too :)

they were my 2nd ever host, about 2 years ago. and the service was EXCELLENT. good uptime, GREAT tech support. i live in asia, and they called me long distance to address an issue when i couldnt be reached by email :)

i've had to move because i needed a bit more specs to grow...but basically, they are the absolute best ive tried.

After spending almost 100 hours searching for the right hosts I think I found them.

I'll save you some agony upfront, price is everything ... you have to know that.

You want a webhost which has quality servers, quality bandwidth, quality tech support and most importantly is profitable.

Yes - in other words, don;t go with a host just because they're cheap. You get what you pay for...you get what you pay for...you get what you pay for...

Too repetitive? Darn right - WHT is filled with people who paid cheap and got squat.

I'll always put a vote in for www.nirmani.net - darn superb service, and not a single hiccup with my site - even through their upgrades. Quality bandwidth only, too.

How can a god damn host be generous with their unlimited policy. The fact is that no host should advertise UNLIMITED cos it can't be done.
