Martie 05-30-2001, 01:17 PM Tina...Super job!
I really like it....loads nice and fast too.:D
cbaker17 05-30-2001, 01:19 PM I like it, although the side nav bar seemed to load slow for me and im on a very fast connection....
Looks pretty nice, but I agree on the navbar as it does seem a bit slow. The filesize of the images look good, maybe it's in the scripting since it has the same problem when reloading. I'm on a T3 here, wouldn't imagine it to be my connection either.
AH-Tina 05-30-2001, 01:39 PM Yeah, I noticed that too. :( I can't, for the life of me, figure out why it's doing that!
Grrrrr!

Planet Z 05-30-2001, 01:39 PM I'm not a webdesign expert. However, it seems to me the buttons change after the mouse moves over them. Most sites preload the buttons (before and after mouseover) as the site loads instead of waiting for the user to move the mouse over the button.
I could be wrong, though. :D
cahostnet 05-30-2001, 01:47 PM I'm not expert either but I really like the look of your new site. Well job done. I think though there seems to be allot of dead space. Maybe putting a line around it and making it smaller will help that.
Congratulations!
klisis 05-30-2001, 02:23 PM Nicely done site. Looks very professional and clean.
Do you mind telling us the name of web designer?
Hi Tina,
Planet Z is correct. You need to preload the images. Here is a quick and dirty example for you:
// This will preload both states for your first rollover
Image1off = new Image();
Image1off.src = "images/rightnavi_hosting.gif";
Image1on = new Image();
Image1on.src = "images/rightnavi_hosting_o.gif";
// These are the basic functions I use for rollovers
//mouseOver image swap
function over(img) {
document[img].src = eval(img + "on.src");
}
//mouseOut image swap
function off(img) {
document[img].src = eval(img + "off.src");
}
Yout first rollover link would look like this:
<a href="hosting.shtml" onMouseOut="off('Image1')" onMouseOver="over('Image1')"><img border="0" src="images/rightnavi_hosting.gif" width="166" height="23" name="Image1" alt="Hosting Packages"></a>
That should work for you. You might want to double check that it works in all browsers but it works for me in IE, NS4 and NS6.
The new design looks awesome, btw.
Regards
~Chas
Martie 05-30-2001, 03:25 PM Strange...on cable here
and its loading real fast for me.
dherman76 05-30-2001, 04:09 PM Beautiful site Tina! Good luck!
Good work Tina! Rollovers are very, very slow indeed. You need some optimised JScript code to speed them up - if you need help drop me a line.
One slight problem : down the bottom left hand corner, you have
(copyright) 2001 Afordable Host.
(whoever did the graphics has left out an f!)
Dylan 05-30-2001, 09:15 PM :) fast for me :D
BUT
I only had one problem: how much is extra diskspace?
Dogma 05-30-2001, 11:53 PM all I can say is nice site!! Loaded pretty quickly for me on my tiny 56k web connection. Very nice!!:cool:

Lonny 05-31-2001, 08:41 AM Very nice - looks very professional.
spcover 05-31-2001, 12:03 PM Tina,
Beautiful site. Very impressive.
But this caught my eye.
In footer of
http://www.affordablehost.com/order/order.php
you use a graphic image for your copyright notice and in it you misspell "Affordable".
On all other pages you use text for your copyright and spell "Affordable" correctly.
Great work!
Sean

He's located in Pakistan. Very reasonable and very nice to work with. He came up with exactly what I requested, with a few improvements.
If you want to get in touch with him, let me know and I'll have him contact you. I don't feel comfortable giving out his contact info without permission.

I have never had someone ask for more diskspace. Bandwidth/transfer, yes. Diskspace, nope!
