i'm looking for a script that will allow people to create a pop account on a raq4/linux machine.

does anyone know how to do this? i want to start a free pop-account e-mail service but don't want to go with everyone.net or bigmailbox or any other outsourced service.

the service will be a paid service, so security of "misusing" the script shouldn't be a problem, it'll be taken good care of.

does anyone have a script to create pop accounts?

thanks!

I am looking for a Alias/Vanity email script to allow clients to add alias for their email accounts. I know this is build into the control panel, but I want a simple list to show all users for that domain and their email aliases. I find it is much easier to manage them that way.

ememex, I don't know whether the script you are looking for exist or not, but I think it might crash your system if you use it.

huck, maybe you can ask someone to do a script to make out a list based on /etc/aliases . It contains the whole server aliases info. I think you might find it useful if you take a look in it.

.

but why should a server crash is a new POP account is created on it?

i don't expect more than 10-30 signups a day, will this overload the PC?

I think your best bet would be to post the job on www.cgi-resources.com and see if anyone wants to do the job. I know alot of design and programming teams that know how to do this kind of cgi/php based scripting. The cost may be alot, but it really depends on what you would like.

I have written scripts to do this on Cobalt systems before - but be carefull - modifying the conf files on a cobalt raq can have a real bad effect on the siteadmin/admin tool.
