Im new to this, but I have an idea for an adult site...If I do this I need some hosting, and if all turns out well the "adult-site" may get as many as 500.000 hits a day, the site wont be much graphic in it, in total about 40 kb...
What do you think it would cost per month to host a site like this???

since this is just an idea and your site haven't go live yet. Try with basic plan first then you upgrade it as it grown. Good luck.

Well,,,its an idea, yes, but when we launch we will probably get about 500.000 hits a day, so we need something solid to stand on! Hmm...Damn I need to read up on this hosting thing...
And everthing is set, prepared and ready to go, just need a host!

humm...start out with about 50 gigs bandwidth/month first. and it should cost you about $30. That just my estimate.

Adult host is usally more expensive than "normal" with 500.000 hits a day you'll roughly need at least 50 GB.
I think that should be in the range of $90-110 per month.

Once again, it is important to point out hits along is a bad guage for what exactly is needed. While it does help, it doesn't cover the considerations sufficiently.
Consider:
1. Does your site run any databases and scripts. If yes, what kind of scripts. The reason being, if it is all scripts, even without the lack of graphics, a shared virtual hosting will *not* be sufficient.
2. Do you think your users' visits are evenly spread out throughout the day or concentrated in certain hours? (e.g. in the wee hours :)) You need to cater to your peak usage rather than just averages.
That said, based on your requirements, you may want to consider your own server. It should cost around 100-200 to start off.

Thanks guys, lucky me my friend called me up and can host it for a banner, and his servers take about 1.000.000 hits a day, so I think it will work out!
