Some of you might be interested in seeing my chat with OLM, my former first choice for hosting my website:

---MY QUESTION---

Can you tell me how much extra I'd be charged if I exceeded my Starter Account band width allowance of 8GB?

Also, I'm going to register my domain name and I know this requires that I provide contact information that will be made public. I'll soon be renting a mailbox and getting voice-mail for this. Should I use the voice-mail number and rented mailbox address on your web hosting account order form, or is there a seperate form for the domain name registration information?

--- RESPONCE FROM OLM---

Hello,
You will receive a email warning as you get close to your limit. You then
have the options of upgrading your account on a permanent basis or you can
upgrade for only the month in question.
For traffic usage in excess of your monthly allowance, you will be
billed @ $12/month for every additional 1GB used.

regards,
Ben - sales

I was attracted by OLM's 8GB transfer limit for under $20.00/mo, but from what I've heard and seen, $12/month per extra GB is way high. Also, what happened to the answer to my second question?

Anyway, now I'm leaning towards JaguarPC, which hasn't been around long and their new Nevada location probably puts them in earthquake territory (why they moved from Alaska to a desert state beats me). I'm already dissatisfied with Jaguar PC, and they aren't even my host yet!

;) Just to clarify , Phoenix is on Arizona not Nevada and while we are not in earthquake territory our affected by power outages :) , we do get some real nice sun here. We are fairly new in the business , Since 1998, but thats still a great deal older than many others. The trick is knowing that you never know everything and always stay open to new ideas especially from those that have been around longer.

Hopefully, that power outage problem will be solved soon. Meanwhile, get your generators ready for one more customer. I'll be mailing you a check on Monday.

I was referring to our close neighbor :California . Poor folks, you have to feel for them and their power problems. We have no power issues here in Arizona, in fact we are a few new power plants to keep up with growth.
