View Full Version : To all Hosting companies out there
kickster 05-28-2001, 07:12 PM We have just started a hosting review site. If you wish to get listed, please send me your information.
I need to know the server type(CPU) and OS.
If you offer Mysql, php, cgi.
transfer allowence, storage and price/m.
Please send the info to admin@webhostingvillage.com
Planet Z 05-28-2001, 07:59 PM Just a suggestion (you may have already thought of this) -- make one of your first priorities getting the process automated. You'll get a lot more hosts adding their entries plus you won't have to waste tons of time manually entering in data.
Perhaps manually reviewing the plans before the go online is a good idea (weed out the $25/mo dedicated servers that come with unlimited bandwidth).

kickster 05-28-2001, 08:48 PM Hi Josh
The script is already set to accept automated submissions, however, we are not planing to make it automated.
We want to review the hosts not to build an endless outdated database of hosts. I have visited many directory sites
and almost all contained 30-50 percent outdated links.
As you can see on our site, we will charge $100 per listing. The reason for the fee is that we only include
a limited number high quality hosts. All hosts are subject to users rating, if a host gets a low ranking, I will
investigate and if the rating correctly represent the company then they will be removed from the data base.
This way users are presented with an accurate up to date list of quality hosts and hosting companies will get
much better representation of their service's quality.
Ps. The $100 fee does not apply to WHT members.
MCHost-Marc 05-28-2001, 09:17 PM Keep in mind that there might be good hosts out there that don't want or cannot spend $100 to get listed; especially if your site is new and does not receive much traffic yet. :)
kickster 05-28-2001, 09:24 PM Thats why we are not charging anyone at this time. :)
All WHT members are welcome to submit their company.
MCHost-Marc 05-28-2001, 10:33 PM How long is the offer valid? We'll probably have our website up on June 1st.
Jedito 05-28-2001, 10:38 PM Kickster, did you receive my email? tell me if I forget something
Best Regards

How do you investigate this?
kickster 05-29-2001, 07:01 PM kiwi, there is no specific deadline may be end of june or July.
Walter, I will contact the hosting company and also use WHT and other similar resources to get users feedback.
Lonny 05-29-2001, 09:27 PM Just wanted to say good luck with the site.
(SH)Saeed 05-30-2001, 04:09 AM logus, I see you have a hosting dir as well. Is it worth while starting one?
kickster 05-31-2001, 01:52 AM Jedito, I got your email. you will be added soon. We are working on a new feature where users are allowed to ping the host.
kickster 07-25-2001, 10:06 PM I just wanted to let you know that we are still accepting free submissions. If you have not been listed
with us please send me your hosting information.
Please read my first message for requirements.
Ps. I did not mean to bump this topic since we have extended our time
I wanted WHT members to know. I assumed posting under original thread is
better than opening a new topic.
slade 07-26-2001, 10:41 AM kickster,
How much traffic do you get?
(I'm talking about eyeballs on your site, not your own hosting plan ;) )
kickster 07-26-2001, 10:44 AM average is 100 to 200 but it will be boosted to over a thousand when I start the advertising campaign.
Ps. What do you mean by my own hosting plans? I dont own a hosting company!

Sorry, was trying to get accross that I wanted to know how many visitors you were getting, not how much bandwidth you had on your domain account.
