I came to this site because I had a bad experience with a host and did not know where to turn...posted my problems..and fotunately for me...someone responded which got me on my way. It turned out that the person that responded was a hosting site and being thankful and loyal to someone that got me out of my jam..I transfered my sites to his company..and am glad I did. After all the smoke cleared...I realized that as an industry(hosting)and by reading many of these posts that it is a totally unregulated
industry with very few things you can do to get to a bad host if indeed you get screwed. That worries me as well as this forum... because instead of using this venue for positive solutions...it is coming across as slamming post which has turned me off from frquently returning to it. Too much of attacks and counter attacks which makes me wonder again about the quality of people in this business.

Sauceman,
My take is that you haven't really been reading most of the posts in this forum, but then you already basically admit this.

Yes, there are hosting companies that get slammed in these forums, but what goes around comes around --they have almost certainly gotten what they deserve.

On the positive side, there are several folks that are regulars here and have provided a wealth of good, helpful information to many people, and fairly often I might add. My personal observation is that probably 30% of posts are on the positive side. For the way this industry is, I think that's pretty incredible (i.e. good).

Quite a few people have been helped here, and have made better decisions because of it. That includes some sharp hosting companies that have gone so far as to change their websites/terminology/offerings to better reflect their integrity. My hat's off to them and to the several regulars here that provide their wisdom free of charge.

To Tk and Computer Guy,
Thanks for the response and points well taken. As I mentioned before this post bailed me out of a bad situation with a host..I was at my wits end and I would like to make that appreciatively clear. Upon reading several of the posts that day I came to the conclusion that my situation was not an isolated one.... many of the posts reflected similarities to my problems with my prior host. Being a newbie I was taken back by that as an industry and reading several posts later on that day it seemed as
the mode was like catfights between hosts.Hence my comments. I am aware enough and the wiser now to sift out the garbage and have read many positive posts during the time I wrote mine...just a point to make that really this is all we got to help us in our sifting process..and I am thankful it is available.

Talking about catfights...

Actually not all the catfights have been totally useless. If one knows how to sift looking for useful information through these catfights, then one can learn quite a few useful things from them too.

Well, I must admit that I have at least.

There is one mega catfight in this forum which really got carried away... the TrueHosting (TH) catfight !!!

And Admin wisely locks any future thread that tends to digress towards TH.

Also, before I end, I must admit that this forum is one of the better forums on the Net on the subject of Hosting... it's quite comprehensive since it has already covered a vast range of subjects regarding this industry (hosting).

And what I really like about this forum is that you have the regular web gurus taking out their valuable time to comment (a good mix of praise and criticism) ... which goes a long way in benefiting newbies like me.
