Is it generally accepted to buy a reseller account because it is cheaper for the bandwith and space, (usually) and then just using it as a normal account?

or is this a no-no?

edit: i am a complete newb at this, only reason i am asking :)

That's what I did before I got a dedicated server. I bought a reseller account, and used it for my many domains - host didn't care so long as I paid my bill ;). You don't necessarily need to resell the webspace ;)

okay, i am about start up a david gray forum, and am expecting it to use heavy bandwith. the host i am going with has some pretty good reseller account deals, so i was thinking about buying one of those and using it all myself.

As long as you comply with their TOS, I don't think they'll mind ;) Be sure to post a review of your host in the forums after you've used them for a while...let us know how its going :)

Thanks for the quick help.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something that most people considered wrong. I'll be sure to post a review after a few months.

Yup, pretty much so. You could get a reseller's account even if you do not intend to resell. However, you probably cannot get a normal virtual account to resell though.

Pretty much the same thing as getting a dedicated server and not offering web hosting services. ;)

Its upto you how you make use of your space and transfer - larger sites often use reseller plans.
