View Full Version : Which one to choose?
I am looking for web hosting where i can use:
ssl, php, mysql and it would be very usefull for me if there is an easy administration tool, very quick support.
I am on one step away to choose one of these: www.interland.com (http://www.interland.com)
web2010
superb.net
aitcom.net
Could you please help me and tell me which one is the best one? And do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance :))

Chicken 07-12-2000, 08:49 PM heh heh, what a bitchin' name. Nice! you are based outta Texas are you? Could add a "yeeeeeee-haw" to the end of that sig line!
Annette 07-12-2000, 09:00 PM Based on reviews of interland, I'd stay away from them. Duster's had some issues with ait (I believe). The others - don't know.
Most linux hosts can offer the things you need, as the requirements you've listed are fairly simple. Those who lease from Alabanza (myself, John, others) will have what I think is the simplest (in terms of use) control panel available - it allows you to administer just about every aspect of your account, from start to finish.
Other hosts to consider: superior-host.com (don't forget the hyphen, or you'll wind up at the superiorhost that has not received very favorable reviews) and below10host (uses Alabanza's servers).
Cheers.

Duster 07-12-2000, 09:32 PM I did indeed have problems with AIT (aitcom.net) as did a good friend of mine. In fact, he was just over and told me that he still has problems with them over billing, months since he left them (sometime last year). I posted the messages with them in my case so anyone can see how bad they are for themselves.
I believe Interland has had some bad reviews. I made a recent post about them being a spam haven. A site they host devoted to selling spamware is still functional, even though it has been two weeks since I notified Interland. That should be reason enough to pass on them. Spammers and spammer hosts cannot be trusted.

johnode 07-12-2000, 09:36 PM Chicken,
Thanks. We're based out of Anchorage Alaska and use Alabanza's servers. Who knows though we might have to start targeting Texas. We also have beastdanghost.com, bestdarnhost.com, and a few misspellings like bestdamhost.com and bestdammhost.com.

John,
I suppose tallesttales.com and biggestbull.com are already taken. ;-D
Actually Duster, both aren't!
Grab 'em while they're hot...
(I won't bother, because I've already got my preferred dream domain :D)

johnode 07-12-2000, 11:37 PM LOL, see now that's funny! :) I don't have a response for that .
DanielP 07-13-2000, 12:19 AM Well biggestbull.com is taken now.
I'm going to dedicate it to informing the internet about all the scams out there (in other words the perfect place for people to rant and rave about their bad hosting experiences, heh the name makes you want to think, biggest bull **** no? hehe
Thanks for the Idea Duster =P
tallesttales just doesn't have enough appeal.

Duster 07-13-2000, 01:21 AM I'm glad my humor has some practical value. As far as another name, I would think the .net version would be appropriate. Better hurry. :-)
Duster 07-13-2000, 01:24 AM Daniel,
Here's another, especially suitable for your stated purpose.
biggestbullonthe.net
It's pretty accurate if you overlook using the 'net as a synonym for the 'web
DanielP 07-13-2000, 01:29 AM heh thanks for the ideas duster :)
its not quite the same as one of those "on the whim" type things heh. That site was a whim deal, if I would have gotten the name i would have done it. I'm still thinking but I'm also in the process of possibally purchasing a local offline business and running it plus UltraSpeed and so forth :) I'll brew on it for a bit :)
Daniel~
