View Full Version : Stargate Domain Transfer time.
mpkapadia 05-28-2001, 01:06 AM Hello All
I just got a bulk account at stargate last week, their control panel etc etc seemed impressive.
Any stargate resellers / bulk acc holders can tell me please how much time it usually takes for a domain name to be transfered from others to stargate
I applied for few domain transfers on 23rd Early morning. Today is 28th and still they r not transfered so i was just wondering,
Yes i got the domain transfer req mail and i went to their website and accepted the same.
Also i am wondering how do people get username and password for their domain when the domain is transfered , bcos the only password i have as of now is the bulk login and there is nothing i can do from within there

Annette 05-28-2001, 02:18 AM We've had a couple of clients thus far using stargate, and they seem to be ok. One had a small issue with the transfer, but that was corrected after a note to the folks at stargate. The rest have been modified without problems.
mpkapadia 05-29-2001, 02:35 AM its full 7 days now still not transfered
I register new domains there without problems
i wrote to them and support people asked me if i had accepted the transfer , ofcourse i did, my email address is there in admin contact.
Then they asked if it was there for more than 60days at old registrar, - Again it was there for almost 1 year
I hope they sort it out soon bcos if they are not going to usable to transfer domains from elsewhere then i have a problem
Rgds

Chicken 05-29-2001, 03:39 AM Note that the delay may be due to the other registrar ignoring the transfer request. I thought I read somewhere that if the other register doesn't approve/deny the transfer in errr.. 7 days that it can be transfered (somewhat a default). In other words, they can choose to be speedy, or just let the time run out and not deal with transfer requests. I'm not entirely sure about this one...

Yes, this happens quite often  sometimes a registrar even does not approve the transfer and you will have to do it a second time.
Some registrars a really st.p.d
mpkapadia 05-29-2001, 03:52 AM I See,
I do hope this is the case then atleast after 7 days stargate can go ahead with the transfer,
BTW i was trying to transfer a domain from bulkregister to stargate.
I have done a transfer from Bulkregister to other place without problems
I hope the thing gets done by this weekend .

From experience, it's 5 working days which means the new domain registrar will submit on your behalf the proper documents to the losing domain registrar after the domain owner(administrative contact) confirms the transfer, if the "administrative contact" could not be contacted or no acknowledgement reply due to some reasons such as wrong emails, etc. for more than 5 days, it will timed out and the whole process will have to be re- submitted again.
If everything is in order, then it normally take about 2 weeks to one month for the losing domain registrar, e.g. NSI to confirm as it is not given priority, as they are losing a client.
sense 05-29-2001, 10:09 AM just wondered if you faxed the transfer agreement form to stargateinc or not ?
mpkapadia 05-29-2001, 10:23 AM Sense
What they do is email a link to the admin contact ,
Admin contact has to go on the link and electronically accept the transfer by hitting on Accpet button
Besides i also recd email reply from them that the Transfer has been accepted and is being processed
That is why i am wondering whats going on.
Btw i am admin contact for the domains so i recd the email and also the confirmation

No, these numbers usually only work inside a country.
