I am very interested as well. Thanks! qm8309 02-25-2003, 03:09 AM i want to know too! Windsun 02-25-2003, 06:03 AM For counterstrike you need about 680 bytes per second per player, but I have not idea what that works out to in total bandwidth - it would depend on how active the server is and how many are playing. But just for grins, assume 3 hours, 6 players. 6 x 3 x 60 x 60 = about 6.5 megabytes. So for one month x 30 = 1.5 gigabytes. And that is just for 3 hours a day and only 6 players. I have no idea if those figures are correct, because all it considers is the data being passed while playing. I do know that a 15 player server will eat about 2.5 gigabytes per day. Smokie 02-25-2003, 10:03 AM Here they use about 50 gigs a month http://wroaw.now.nu/ and a public UT2003 uses about the same so far... :) Dexter 02-25-2003, 10:27 AM I don't play counterstrike so this is just a guess but I'd assume each player needs arounds 5-10Kbps so bandwidth wise you're talking around 150-200Kbps. so assuming I did my math right I'd say your looking at roughly 150gigs a month in transfers sudiphed 02-25-2003, 11:23 AM It really depends on the clients update/command rates. I use slightly tweaked rates and I average 5K/s in, 5K/s out. I think the default rates are about 3K/s in, 3K/s out. So you figure 6K/s per player * 60 Seconds * 60 Minutes * 8 hours = 172800K per day (172 Megs) per player. 172 Megs per player, per 8 hour day. So about 2.8Gigs/day for 16 players, playing for 8 hours a day. About 84 Gigs/month, unless I miffed something up. |
