Yesterday, accessing my server via FTP was so slow, uploading a 5k file kept causing timeouts. Just a few minutes ago, their entire network went down -- ev1.net, rackshack.net, etc.

I did some traceroutes from different locations, and also had a friend in another country try to access their site, but nothing -- they're completely offline. :mad:

you are right. from germany and dutch is rackshack complete offline.

Just called rackshack's tech support number now, and they have a recorded message up saying that their network is down. "The awesome ev1 network!" -- yeah right! :D

I also talked to someone there, and they didn't know when it would be back up. However, the guy I talked to there jokingly said that he hopes it will be back up soon, because he wants to go home.

Can anyone tell me how often this happened in the past weeks? It looks like my amount of visitors is going down everyday.. and not just on one site but on all my sites on a rackshack server.

Rackshack is now reachable again. slow but working. my up- downloadspeed is near 2-3 kb/s.

for me this was the second fault of the network. the last noticed was wednesday. comes rackshack now near cobaltracks ?

While it sucks that Rackshack was down for a little while, I appreciate them getting things back up and running as fast as they did - especially since this is a holiday weekend.
When we had our servers at RackSpace we knew better than expect speedy service on holidays, so this turned out to be a nice surprise. (Off holiday RackSpace support was far superior to any company we have ever used.)
...based on my personal experience with Cobaltracks, rackshack has a LONG way to go to be ranked with them.

I'm happy their network is back up again now. Now I can finally access my server again. :)

Finally, to anybody looking for an affordable Cobalt RaQ, I would still vouch for RackShack: for the price, they can't be beaten, and they are usually quite good.
