took us a long time to figure on out, but its a matter of everyone agreeing and making sure no members hate the mods guts.

Akash has been atop our list for some time.

So what will akash do? :)

XTStrike

While Akash "beds in" moderating on WHT he will be a general moderator, then we will decide on some focussed moderating tasks that akash can carry out.

Of of yet Akash will remain a general moderator until a decision has been made.

Cool. Sounds like specialized training in the Navy Seals, or "special teams" in a hockey game. Does that mean akash will wear like a decoder laser powered ring? Or perhaps an optical mouse with built in GPS capabilities... :D

an excellent choice

I have observed Akash being rational and well mannered, also being politely firm without being obnoxious when other members (no names mentioned here) have been obnoxious to him

I have seen flames being dowsed quietly with the minimum of fuss from Akash

as I said, an excellent choice and one that reflects on the good sense of the wht administration

It will be good when there's enough mods that we can rate them. :-)

Rather surprising, isn't it? ;)

We'll be adding more and it is very likely that some won't agree with the choices, however all will be on a trial basis and we do ask that they be given a chance to prove themselves.

Akash has been on the short list for months, so we're pretty sure with that pick. With others we may be less sure, but if it doesn't work out, they simply return to being a member and probably hate the rest of the moderators.

Reptilian Feline
02-25-2003, 10:49 AM
It's a bad member if they hate the mods after being on trial for a while and then put back with the regular members.

Think of it as a regular job and a trial period to see if you like the job, the job likes you, and the people yiu work with agree with you. :)

I would say shoot for one mod per 500 members. It is better to have them and not need them then to need them and not have them.

Personally, I think this board and some of its moderators go way overboard in deciding on what is and is not acceptable to say, think, and feel when replying to various posts here. Ive had many posts deleted for my opinions and I think you are doing people a dis-service by deleting posts by people who actually have THIER OWN opinion and not afraid if everyone will accept it.

That seems to be the commonality here.. its almost as if people sit there and contemplate before clicking that submit reply button... is this politically correct? will most people agree with me? am I going to offend anyone? ...... meanwhile its not how they truely feel, its not what they really think, its what they think everyone wants to hear, now Im not saying everyone is this way, just the ones who have flamed me for expressing my TRUE thoughts.

So.. I guess what Im saying is give people a little more freedom to be themselves and let them speak thier minds without any self righteous "you cant have an opinion" bull**** , that goes for everyone.. not just the mods.

I don't recall myself in the past week ever deleting your posts, but I see the regular mods have. You're entitled to your opinion, but when you make derogatory remarks that cross the line, the posts get edited and/or deleted.

I've often expressed my own opinion without having my posts deleted/edited. Perhaps its the manner in which you express your opinion and not the opinion itself that creates the problem?

I agree. Many members seem to think they can just say anything in any manner they see fit, regardless of decorum. I've read plenty of controversial posts that are not deleted. I certainly don't think of WHT as over-censoring...

Your posts have been removed because you've flamed companies, called other members "idiots" or "morons", etc. You should have been banned, but we give people chances, too many, and if you had done this today, your account would be suspended without notice.

As I said, this is a thread about a new moderator.
