Ok Im in the process of deciding on where to host
If I go thru a reseller and then after a while they decide to stop reselling I assume Im SOL?
Also one of the places im considering seems to be a reseller for Burst.net.Im just curious as to Burst's reliabilty and speed?

Im sure Ill come up with some more questions.Just trying to be thorough as my last few choices have come back to bite me on the butt;)

If you go through a reseller and they decide to stop reselling or are late paying, yes, you are SOL.

Do you really think that? I would guess that the company behind will jump in and take all customers. Of course, there will be some downtime and if you have prepaid... :(

Yes, I more than 'think' it. To explain it another way...

You sign up for an account at a reseller. They are the ones who are actually requesting your account, and paying for it (you pay them). If they don't pay their bills, then your account gets killed by the host.

Should you be worried? Well, yes and no.

This really doesn't stop at the reseller level, just that out of anyone, a reseller has the least to lose (investment wise). They don't own the servers, the NOC, etc.

What would happen if the *host* that hosts your reseller (the one you got the account from) is late paying for their server? You are SOL. What would happen if the NOC is late paying rent on the building or can't pay for the lines? You are SOL.

Do I think you should stay up nights worrying about this? Nope. Personally, I'd just pick a good reseller, who uses a good host, at a good NOC. Just like you would anyway. I've come into contact with plenty of people who resell for great companies and really they are just not big enough to take the plunge and get their own server (yet).

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Chicken, of course you are right.
Additional to the long food chain (is this the right wording in english?) network-provider/noc/primary host/reseller/customer there are some other reasons why something could go wrong.
Your very valid point is that to start reselling or to offer webdesign takes less resources than to buy a server or even open a NOC. Two days ago I talked to a new web designer offering web services who doesn't even know how to make a simple form with POST - he was complete clueless.
Either you learn very very quick or you will be out of business very fast and your few customers very unhappy.

s.....h...................................................................

"It" is a bad word. Add "it" to the end of "Sh".
