View Full Version : Anyone knows anything about NocSoft?
ckpeter 05-26-2001, 06:36 PM I know that the next version of cpanel is a complete rewrite, call nocsoft.
Does anyone knows anything about it at all? Features? Platforms? Price? When to release?
Thanks,
Peter
Vortech 05-26-2001, 11:32 PM Info on this would be great.... Also do they plan to rent it like CPanel or sell it out right. I think they should offer it both ways.. :)
Get some info from here:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=10192
or just search "NocSoft".
BurstNET 05-27-2001, 11:24 AM There are some surprises in the works, but we cannot release details on this until a few weeks before the release of NocSoft...otherwise competitor products may have time to release something similar.
Stand by....

Vortech 05-27-2001, 07:23 PM Thanks BurstNET. How long do you think it will be?
Domenico 05-27-2001, 08:36 PM Will the current cpanel 3.8 upgrade to 4.0 or am I talking nonsense here?
JonnyQuags 05-28-2001, 01:01 AM If there is a Cpanel 4.0 it would be released by VDI not by Darkorb.
Timothy 05-28-2001, 01:20 AM I believe that NocSoft will upgrade Cpanel seamlessly...

Why? :cartman:
Domenico 05-28-2001, 03:05 AM I'm so confused about this stupid construction.
So the programmers have split and now there is cpanel and nocsoft.
True?
If so is there going to be a cpanel 4 or will everybody upgrade to nocsoft?
There could be two versions. Competition is healthy.
koolguru 05-28-2001, 03:52 AM Yes The Programmers Have Split.
VDI will be releaseing the next version as Cpanel4
&
BurstNET will be releaseing NocSoft
The Customers of VDI will get a free upgrade to Cpanel 4
&
The Customers Of BurstNET will get a Free Upgrade to NocSoft.
God Knows What Will Happen To Those who are with Liquidweb & Powersurge.
Atleast I am Safe That I am Going To Get Some Upgrade as I am A BurstNET client.
That's what I think. I am not Sure though !
ckpeter 05-28-2001, 11:16 AM Anyone knows why cpanel and VDI splitted?
What's the insider story?

Well not only Burst customers will be using Nocsoft Powersurge will not sure about Liquidweb they are still at VDI so not sure how that works out and I know VO will use it because we are on the Drakorb version now.
If you buy from VDI then you will get the VDI upgrades, if you have the Darkorb version then you get there upgrades.

Liquidweb and Powersurge both purchase licenses from Darkorb, rather than VDI.
There will be no "Cpanel 4"... ever. VDI must change the name of their product as per the code split agreement; I believe they have chosen the name "WebPanel". Darkorb will [obviously] not be developing a Cpanel 4, but rather NocSoft (same programmers, different company) will be developing their Cpanel replacement.
Hope that clears things up.

At this point, I have absolutely no idea. As far as I know, neither product is far enough into development to be able to jump to any conclusions. I'm certain that neither of these companies would push out a product that wasn't better than the system it was designed to replace. It will be up to the users to determine exactly how well the system works for their business.
I suppose only time will tell...
