RashidJ 02-22-2003, 02:39 PM Hi, Who is better of thos. 1- RackShack.net 2- UnitedColo.com 3- NocSter.com Bye, sitekeeper 02-22-2003, 02:47 PM It would be hard to advise..... I would need to know what you plan to do with the server, and how much knowledge you have of Linux. Right now it apears you are only considering price. JWise 02-22-2003, 02:48 PM Depends... 1. Rackshack = Un-Managed Servers, No cPanel (if you desire it) 2. UnitedColo = I heard bad things about them. 3. Nocster = Managed Servers, cPanel if you desire it. jobvdsande 02-22-2003, 03:32 PM NOcster is not that managed right now.... soon perhaps again... icehosting 02-22-2003, 03:53 PM Rackshack support is very bad. i recomended to not buy from this. For Unitedcolo you can read also lot of bad posts. And for Nocster you can find some bad posts but i think is better from the other 2. If you check this forums you can find many other good server providers. addvalue 02-22-2003, 03:59 PM I would says nocster is the best choice among the 3. Rackshack, they are good only if you do not required any support from them. Whereby Unitedcolo, besides cheap pricing, never heard of any good about them. RashidJ 02-22-2003, 04:02 PM What is Good Server provider wiht same this provider price ring. PixelAxis 02-22-2003, 04:05 PM Nocster is a great choice IMO :) mswordman 02-22-2003, 04:29 PM Here's what my preliminary check of unitedcolo shows. I've been pinging them *ALL* day, and guess what, I've never seen a timeout, and constantly 40ish pings, I think it's probably a great host, with a bad startout, anyways when I actually buy a dedicated server from them (not a total loss), and see how they really function, maybe your recent "slowdows" were that damn worm. Oh not really that cheap monthly avg. in + monthly avg. out / 8 bits x 60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours x 30.5 days = Data Transfer (GB) DarktidesNET 02-22-2003, 06:14 PM Originally posted by R. K. Raja Nocster is a great choice IMO :) Agreed, however, with their continuous rapid growth I'd recommend you have some basic Linux/Unix knowledge before jumping into them. Their support is lacking due to their growth (they're hiring new people), but from what I've seen lately in all the threads most people facing problems just don't know anything about servers, or atleast, that's how they come accross. Anytime you buy a server it's best to have some basic knowledge of the OS. Venomous 02-22-2003, 07:42 PM I don't agree with other opinion. For me rackshack offers a good service, and support is pretty good too. DD-SNC 02-22-2003, 07:49 PM I think they all three suck because they offer low-quality hardware, support and any kind of hardcore SLA. Rackshack would have to be the best out of the three though, easily. They have the best network. exploiter 02-22-2003, 07:50 PM rackshack is fine if you know what your doing - if not i don't advise them. support is good but limited, hence the 'unmanged' services. can't really comment on the others, if you do a search you'll get more info. GoldenWeb 02-22-2003, 10:16 PM From those 3... I'll say Nocster. Avg_Joe 02-22-2003, 10:47 PM RackShack. I have had great and fast support from them, infact the best support i have ever had. AN Unmanaged server is just that. U get the box and the keys. anmhosting 02-23-2003, 01:23 AM Given the choice of the three I have to say Nocster too. I think the recent unpleasantness with the valentines day sale is they underanticipated the response and it bit them you know where. And to mirror what someone else said, if you are going to get dedicated, know something about linux. WHM is great, but there are still times you need to ssh in and do stuff. Once they get their act back together everything will be cool. I have had 2 servers there for a year, and no real complaints about support turnaround. *IF* you are a not ready for a ded server VenturesOnline has some nice virtual dedicated plans which are relatively inexpensive. They also have a very good industry rep. I host my primary hosting co site with them and an very happy with the service, uptime and support. icehosting 02-23-2003, 06:32 AM Great support from rackshack? As i remember rackshack provide only reboots. Also i have some hardware problems with one of my RS boxs and and rackshack correct this after 11 days. 11 days for a hardware replace it not fast and it is not great. Angel78 02-23-2003, 07:53 AM Noctser ir RS that is the question :) United dont have support as Nocster or good network as Rackshack. exploiter 02-23-2003, 08:13 AM Originally posted by icehosting Great support from rackshack? I had RAM probs with my box at rackshack, and they took under a day to sort it out. Support may be limited but at least they do the damn job good - they aren't there to babysit servers all day long, so if you can't manage your box right you shouldn't really have a server in the first place. my 2c. drose25 02-23-2003, 08:44 AM I can't speak for the other two, but billing issues aside, I've been very pleased at Nocster. My machine has been reliable and aside from a brief glitch a couple of weeks back, uptime has been excellent...currently 99.85% per Easymonitor. My clients are happy as they've seen less downtime and better response times since we switched to Nocster. Surprisingly, my European clients get better response at Nocster than they did while at NAC. Angel78 02-23-2003, 10:46 AM NAC 113 ms (middle) NOCSTER 126 ms (middle) RACKSHACK 137 ms (middle) UNITED 0 ms (exceded time) from Europe DarktidesNET 02-23-2003, 07:20 PM I get 190ms to nocster, 230 to nac, can't ping the others. |
