On my new dedicated server...
I am having a hard time gaining access to my copy of cpanel theme I made so I can edit it to my own style.

I either need to get FTP root access to the base dir, or set permissions on the user directory to be able to FTP it out of there!

Here's what I have done so far:
I created a copy
moved it to a user directory
chmod'd the directory

Now I can see the directory but NOT the contents. I'm sure I dont need to individually change the permissions on all the files/directories, but I can't remember how! :bawling:

ANY help is appreciated. I'm new to CPanel....so I gotta see what can be done!

use SSH is my suggestion

tar up your files and upload it to an account on your server

su to root and then copy the tar file to the cpanel location and uncompress it to the base/frontend directory

fruitsalad,

Either I read your reply wrong...or don't understand. The copy of the original is still on a user directory on the server...I need to FTP it to my local machine so I can edit it.

I'm trying to get if OFF the server...not back on. Can I still tar it to FTP it off?

You should be able to go to the server tar it then ftp to anther server from command line.. THis would be the best way to do it..
