One day I'm here with 256 posts or so, and have the happy happy joy joys of being a WebHosting Guru :D

I come back the next day and now I'm a Junior Guru Wannabe, with 32 posts!!!!!!!!

Sent a message to Chicken......got no reply.

Has anyone else's post count teamed up with David Copperfield and disappeared?

there is at least a dozen threads. Maybe the words "post count" should be banned for a month :stickout:

Where has my **** ***** gone?

lol not so well spotted. lmao

picked up on the sarcasm though :D

I don't know how I missed it. I usually browse and read through all of the forums, but still somehow overlooked it.

In any case, I read a good bit about it, and agree with it.

I contacted Chicken about this a couple of days ago and he told me that while he was away it was decided that all posting the "Requests' and "The Lounge" has been subtracted for the post count.

I really don't mind, I never cared much about post count, but if this thread is only about losing 200 or so counts... I lost 800 :)

I don't care too much about post count specifically.

However, some newbies, etc. tend to look at a post count as your experience level so to speak.

Of course, that doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. It's almost as if they look at the post count and think "Well this guy has just as many posts as I do, and I have no clue what I'm talking about, maybe he doesn't either."

Although most of my online time is spent either advertising or designing, I can sometimes get caught up in the Hosting Request forum.

On the other side of that though, after reading a good bit of the posts about this subject, they said that it helps make the true community involved members stand out, I honestly feel that when you reply to a hosting request, in addition to getting business, you are helping that person with their hosting needs.

In any case, I'd rather a new customer than a high post count.

try over 2000 :(

A glance at the join date would be better than a post count. Some people may have had 1000 posts in a month....but someone that has been around for months/years might only have 30....who would you trust? :)

Normally I would go by join date.. but someone who only has 30? I would chose someone with a higher postcount in that situation.

I think you may be right! Should get some bets going! LOL. Maybe we could bet with post counts.

Before the thread is closed/removed I would like to say that Darth smells really bad.

Darth

So does matt. Infact I can smell him from here *faints*

In your case Matt, 4000+ in 6 months wouldn't be a trust indication  (it looks better now it has been reduced ;))

Darth

4000 in 6 months? is that possible!? you must be a robot or something.

I wondered what the nasty pong was that I could smell up here in Leeds.

UH-Matt

anon-e-mouse: my 4000 in 6 months was not a case of trust, its an addiction :)

As soon as you get over 300-400 I think postcount is less relevant. But I would never trust someone with just 30 posts, regardless of there time on the boards.

Ive lived in Bournemouth, Hertfordshire and Blackpool.

It generally gets more smelly the further North you go in the UK.

MatthewN
