Check out http://www.jpilot.com, they make something called jIRC which is an IRC based java applet. It allows you to chat on IRC via the web. I'm pretty sure Rackshack.net uses it for support, so take a look at their site to see how you like it!

I use www.parachat.com on my site. It's free. Cut and paste. And seem's to be very reliable and works with all my sites users. You can also password protect it with "gate keeper" (http://javascriptkit.com/script/cut34.shtml) if you'd like to keep others out.
