does email count against the hosting plan's transfer limit?
this may be a selection factor for someone who wants a small website with a lot of email accts.
while on subject, do hosts count stored email against webspace limits?
mostly just curious. I am not in a bind, I just noticed my account control panel tells me inbound and outbound amounts.

this depends on the hosts. Some hosts will charge you
for email while other won't. Probably some hosts don't even know what's going on and how to change it.

They normally do. FTP and Telnet activity count toward that as well.

Usually if the host doesn't specifically mention the size of the POP accounts they give you, then yes.
A good aspect about this (the sharing of space between email and the web site) is that it's easier for you to receive larger email attachments and you get to leave more messages on the server (for those who do), without having to worry about running out of space so quickly.
Of course, if you receive tons of email like we do, then it's another story. :)

Most likely it will depend on how they track bandwidth. If its an ipless site changes are they may only track http bandwidth which would not include email. You will want to ask your host.

The best answer to that question is to ask your host.
Since bandwidth is still the more expensive resource for web hosting a host would usually include your mail.
Some won't include your mail in the transfer, but will penalise if you spam or receive unearthly amounts of mail.
