This is really strange. I don't know if any of you have every had this problem.

Netscape 4.77 cannot get email from the server when the neomail application has been setup through the Cpanel. It will work for the default pop, but not for any other pop account. It will basically ask for the password over and over again.

Any ideas? Has anyone had the same problem?

Thanks

Hi bert,

I've done a test using Netscape 4.77 and it seems to work.

Remember that for POP accounts created via Cpanel, you'll need to enter the entire email address as the POP username, not just the front portion. This applies with all email clients, not just Netscape Messenger.

We have some details about it at:

http://manual.aletiahosting.com/email_1.html

Try it and let us know how it goes.

Hi Mark, yes I know I tried it with "user@domain.com" with accounts created with Cpanel and with "user" with the default account. It works for the default account but it doesn't work for any other account. It is not working for a couple of customers and it is not working on our demo.

If you want you can try our demo at demo.pronicsolutions.com, user demo, password demo. The pop server should be demo.pronicsolutions.com.

All our sites have the same problem. Email will work with Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, pretty much everything except for Netscape. Netscape will just return a message asking for password. The weird thing is that this only happens if Neomail has been used. Accounts that have not used Neomail can receive email with Netscape.

Any ideas? :(

It could be a configuration issue with cppop on your machine. Have there been any modifications done to it?

We have it running fine at our end with the default cppop config. You can try the demo at:

http://demo.aletiahosting.com/

The POP server is "demo.aletiahosting.net", the POP username is "test@demo.aletiahosting.net", and the password is "test" (assuming the test account is still there, if not you can create your own).

Mark, we haven't touched the configuration of the pop server at all.

I guess we will have to contact the Cpanel developers for help with this. I have a feeling this has to do with Cpanel and WHM.

try replacing the @ in the username to % when you are using netscape and see if that works.

Good suggestion Tcoy. Try that Bert, the % works for us as well.
