Hi :)

Can you fit a normal size ATX P4 motherboard and harddisk into a 1u rack? Somebody told me you couldn't :o

On most 1U rackmount cases, yes you can. There are some specialized cases that are very short in depth or have very specific requirements. All of this information can be found either on the website of the rackmount case you wish to buy, or by calling their support department.

If you give us the link to the case you are thinking about, we can certainly help.

Also be aware that you'll need a low-height cpu heatsink, and some DIMMs might not fit.

Well, certainly, you will need some new hardware aside from that.

Each rackmount case will require different things. Many require a slim cd-rom made for rackmounts, a regular floppy, a low height cpu/fan, and a somewhat standard motherboard because the panel on the back has to match the port configuration.

Anything else I forgot?
