I'm planning on colocating, to do virtual web hosting.

I would be running windows 2000 server, here is the hardware I plan to buy, but I need feedback to see if the server is ok.

Processor : Dual PIII 866
Ram : 1 gig Kingston registered ecc
Board : Intel Stl2
Case : Intel Sr2100 (2u) with redundent psu

Drives : 3 Quantum Atlas 10K III 18.4gig
Raid : Intel boxsrcu31

Tape : Seagate travan hornet NS 20

NIC : Intel PILA8480 Pro10/100

And a masterswitch from APC for remote reboot

DO I missed anything, is there a way to increase performance, while keeping a low cost?

Just because it was the first brand I found designed for the STL2.

Is it such a bad choice??

Aloha,
No I doube it

I am into a lot of OC stuff that needs to be stable and know that Crucial and Mushkin have good names in memory

look at
http://www.crucial.com/store/ListModule.asp?module=168-pin+DIMM&x=17&y=13

this in partciluar ?

just to compare hope more people comment in on this

if you decide to go there go here first sign up for a ebates (its free)
they will give ya a 5% discount on crucial memory and many others
figure it helps cover shipping

it's a 2u rackmount case,

I've found out that it is way much cheaper to build a custum server buying here and there from www.pricewatch.com and www.streetprices.com then buying a Dell or a brand name server.

It will probably be hosted in montreal at psi.net's installation, it's about 545$can dollars (~280us$) per month and you get 10U, a 128k burstable to 10mbs per second, it's the best bang for your buck, and Psi is quite reliable.

It would like if anyone can help me locate the bottleneck and/or the way to boost machine performance.
