Bncph, did you try finally Phpbb? or you have problems with the installation?
As I say in the other thread, I can help you with that.. or is just a preference thing Ikonboard?
Best Regards

actually, im stil thinking if i should go for Ikonboard or PHPBB. what im concerned about is server load. im on a shared server, not dedicated. what do you think is the best solution to avoid server crashing?

I prefer PHPBB.
1- Between Php and Perl, no doubt :) PHP
2- Less resources used by PHP
3- aesthetic

I've been customer of terra byte,
although not very bad I had problems with:

1. managing log files

2. setup e mail with ASP (clone of CDONTS), thei support told me first they do nate support it, later discovered
that CHilli acyually supports clone of CDONTS

3. Non existant online info about paths to modules
databases, etc. You'l have to ask for everything and frm different support mand got sometimes opposite answers.

There are also good things, noted before

They just told me something like "log files, dont touch them it's up to RAQ" and we dont't want to mess with it.
But if you pay for traffic, and actually everyone does, its very important tp know where visitors come from and how do you spend money.
This is a big disadventage of terra byte,
I think they are just satisfied with previus raves here and event do not try to fix this!

I've had a dedicated server with Tera-Byte/4Webspace for a while now, and I would have to say that they have the best support of any host I've ever used.

Before I upgraded the memory in my RAQ3, the darn thing would crash about every other day. They were always quick to reboot it for me. I've sent a reboot request email to them and they've replied in two minutes or less on several occassions.

I think you have made a wise choice...

Oh, and I agree about the log files!

I also agree with you all on the log file issues, unfortunatly there isnt anything we can do. cobalt logs just do not work correctly. for dedicated servers i have mrtg graphs and running bandwidth totals from the switches directly, so i dont need to worry abotu those. for the shared hosting people i have the same thing, but no real good way to get that info to them yet. however if they do go over their allotment i provide them with all the info i can.
