Hey all
I dont know if this has been announced on WHT yet (probably has) but I was just looking over 2checkout.com and they have a design contest for a new design of there site with the winner getting $1000.00US!
http://www.2checkout.com/contest.htm if anyone is interested.

PS... Mods im not spamming, I just thought some designers would like to know about it (I myself arent entering cause its a "contest" but others might).

Heh.. a major corporation usually spends thousands, if not hundreds of thousands on their sites.
Sounds to me like a cheap way to go. Cuts out the designers, contracting, bids and such. If I were to do a design for a place like 2checkout, I'd charge a lot more than a measely thousand bucks.
Smart.

Yeah I agree but its more than designers get at WHT when someone advertises a contest...
When I saw "2checkout" I thought the contest would be for us to send them an email, and see who got the first response. I sent them a pre-customer, question about 4 months ago . . . . still waiting. Well not really, after several days, I figured they didn't need my business.
A measly grand for a well established site is cheap. I could see it if it was a new site, and they wanted to start out with a smaller investment. Of course maybe they need to throw the money they save into customer support.
2checkout guy, if you read this don't PM me kissing up now like the few others that I have complained about. I hate that. I give people a chance, but when my mind is made up, (and it is) you lose.

The good thing about a contest is that they can see a variety of different layouts and choose whichever they like best. And the contestants who lose will not be as upset if they lose knowing that they can resell the design with a new logo to someone else who is interested.

Well...We are designing a site for them...we are making it nice, but not too specific to their business. Don't be surprised if you see me selling a template with the name 2co somewhere on it in the next month.

They have closed my account without any reasons. I still have around $900 with them. I have emailed them for many times already, but no one answered me.....
(I think they took my $900 for this contest...)
2checkout sxcks man.....

Well I am sure they had a very logical explanation for this. Did you break any of their TOS? For all I know you can just be from another competetive merchant co and you just registered a few days ago... Thanks for your info but this wasn't a 'I HATE 2checkout because' and I have 'NO REASON" to.

No, I didn't break any of their TOS. I am just selling "normal" products online..... Now, my site has to be shut down because I have no payment processor.....
Nevertheless, they should not ignore me. They should reply my emails.....
(When 2checkout take you $900, you will start hating them also....)
