Hello,

I am planning to colocate my 1u server at a facility near my home. It looks like the data center is 2 hours away from my home.

Looking at the pricing, I think it is more than good.
I want to hear what you think about EFreeservers.com.

Looking at their contract, they have two key points that interest me.

1) $1 per gig
2) They have a guarantee on server uptime

Does anyone see any downside on their colocation service?

If you colocate your server with them, can you give me your feedback on their service and the uptime & connection?

If possible, can you give me the url of your site so I can check the connection?

Also, I heard that California will have a long hour blacout this summer. What do you think about colocating in California?

I don't know anything about efreeserver.com, but I'm pretty sure you can find some thread here about them. Yes, we do have some roll-in black out here in California, specially Northern California ... only if they're with Edison Power. As long the ISP have backup power specially if they also have diesel power generator, you should be ok.

Just hope that their diesel power generator don't blow up like Exodus did few weeks ago... :)
That basically shut everybodies network and websites for a good 3-4 hours. hehe :D

Aloha
I get the fastest tracert times with efreeservers than anybody which kinda makes sense cause I hit the westcoast first
I am curious about ther redundancy more thna there speed if they have diesel gens you are ok
they have answered my emails quickly and seem very pro like in there response.
I think they have a good thing going
also there contract now goes for bandwith guarantee for the whole 20 months form date of purchase so taht was one thing that worried me before
now that is gone
also they will ad stuff to the box for $ 100 a whack
so if you sent em a extra cpu and memory it is one time fee to install

What is the total cost of your colocation for the 1u?

Install fees? You say $1gb, but do you hae to get in bunches? Fee for rackspace?

Thanks.

Hello,

You can check out more information about efreeservers at their web site.

I think you have to buy 400GB for $400 per month.
If you don't use that much, then it would be expensive.

Their colocation is free.

If you don't know Linux or install software, they charge a high price. If you know Linux, then this wouldn't be a problem.

The only thing I want to know is the speed and connection. I don't want to signup with them and find out that my server is slow or down all the time.
