I got to thinking today about this. Wouldnt this give my customers a bit of a choice? And for people who are looking for one or the other...they have it right there...how many of you guys offer both, and what are the pros and cons?

I would recommend that win 2k is here to stay and should be offered or at least resell it.

With out it if someone asks, you are turning business away.

With it, it is income.

Unless you already have a knowing staff on Win2K hosting, you may want to outsource, or it may be a rockey start.

Yeah if you can manage win2k server it will be really plus for you. There are many clients who need both Windows and Unix servers.

NT 4 w/ SP 6 or 2K w/ SP1 would be an idea. many people do preferr *Nix based o/s's. Variety is a good thing though, alot of business do use Windows Platforms and when you suggest it to them.. for some strange reason they seem more comfortable with that idea. In my opinion I would carry at least 1 Windows box/server. make sure though you have someone who can handle the Windows side of things. That is a must.We all know microsoft and its reputation!

Good luck!:D

My company started WinNt hosting at the beginning of the year. I can say its been more of a headache than it was worth it. In the end we ended up outsourcing our support for it. I have noticed that with NT, at least with us, there are much less sign ups and more cancellations percentgewise as opposed to our Linux hosting.

If you are going to host Win2K or NT, you are going to have to know the cogs of the OS to support it well.

There is plenty to the OS and especially on the web hosting side..

If you are primarily offering Unix/linux or other type of hosting platform, approach a reputable win2K host and make a business deal. You'll find that the win2K host would be considering the same objectives.. they won't want to turn down linux/unix customers just as much as you won't want to turn down win2K ones.

Never hurts asking around! ;)
