Hi,

I am looking for really cheap, no-ads/banners host for my small personal website. So, I came across http://free.prohosting.com
All that the site says is that they give no-ads, 50MB space for a one-time fee of $9.95

Has anybody used or heard about their service? I don't own a domain and the site does not mention anything about what kind of web address I will receive or whether I already have to own a domain.

Anyway, I cannot believe that no-ads space can be as cheap as 9.95. So, there probably is something else that I have to pay-up for if I sign-up. I e-mailed their customer support with my enquiries but haven't heard from them at all. That is probably a sign about their service.

Any comments or suggestions?

Is that one time fee lifetime? Yearly?

I can't find any information on that link you gave and the fact that they have broken images all over the place probably isn't a good thing. If they don't have time to update their site, they probably don't have time if you ever have a question.

But for a very small personal site you don't want to spend too much.

Seems like I heard about this a long time back though... 20 MB space and 1 gig of transfer. That's not much at all, but may suffice for a very small personal site that won't generate much traffic.

I see red flags all over the place here, but then again.. you're not going to find a lifetime of hosting for $9.95 anywhere else... doubtful you'll find it there either.

Gah, I don't know what to tell you.

Prohosting.com has been around for some time now and appears to be okay but I'm not sure how much support you will get with the so called "free" service. For the price compared to a geocities account, you probably would be happy but it all depends on what you want and need.

I don't see any real details as to what's including in their plan so you may not get any databases or other fancy do-dads that a normal host would provide.

Another question I have is would that fee remove banners and popups (if they have both)? You need to know this before handing them some $$$.

I don't use the free service for my formal puclished sites.
For prohosting they posted a lot of ads before, also use these free service to attract ppl. For practicing your web development skills, then just try their free service.
