Hi,

I need to find some cheap, good quality Dedicated servers around £100 per month. In the UK of course, paste me some links and packages that you can find

Thanks

You might get some offers if you post in the requests area. If you want UK-located servers (as opposed to UK-located company) remember to stress this.

If it's any help, I have seen some low-cost servers in the UK in this kind of price range but they don't tend to be in datacentres of the same quality as you'd typically find in the US and data transfer can be very costly.

Hi there,

It would be worth posting this in the "Web hosting requests" forum - that way companies can respond with offers for you...

TDM: I'd say that facilities like Telehouse and Redbus were at least as good, if not better, than the majority of facilities in the US... but then I'm biased!! ;)

Good luck in your search!

OK - I re-read that, and I'd have to agree that to have a dedicated server in Telehouse or Redbus for £100 is kinda pushing it... I read it as co-lo! Apologies all round ;)

As long as each server we colo (be it our web servers, shell servers etc...), needs to make £58 a month for us to break even. So anything over that is profit. The more servers we colo the more spread around the price is for all the servers.

Rackspace to us is £25 ex vat per u. Servers are 1u. Then the rest goes towards the connection / cost to buy the server.

Have you added in depreciation costs you will need to return on the server?

Also if you pay per Mbps and someone bursts data every night to 1mbps not going over their 100Gbyte limit your going to go bust very soon :o with uk bandwidth prices.

We're not going to go bust at all. We have our own connection, not a gb limit.

Jealousy of the great price I feel.

James,

Just out of interest, what can you burst to on those servers?

Oh, and I may be interested in a off-site server in the UK to run server monitoring software for our Redbus rack... I'll be in touch ;)

If you're paying £25 per u you must be going through a co-lo provider. You can't be dealing direct with a backbone provider if you're paying those kind of prices. ;)

Yes i know and looking at the prices from woaf.net james says he is colocated with he is paying £160 per Mbps. So if i were to burst at 2Mbps every night running a game server and not go over my 100Gbyte limit...

Well on 95th percentile he would be in a bit of trouble :o

I certainly am not jealous of your prices as you said earlier james, if i wanted to offer such low end servers i would do so.

James[UH]

We do not pay £160 per Mbps. I'm not going to say exactally how much we pay and what for. But it's not on the 95th percentile rule.

On thing ive realised on WHT recently, is someoner posts a good deal, with no strings attached and people seem to enjoy finding faults in the offer. We have enough b/w to cope with current demand. If demand gets any higher, we can afford to upgrade.

tandem, yes we are with a colo provider. Woaf currently have peering arrangments with Nildram, Claranet and Lipex to name a few. I cant find the looking glass url, but if you do search for woafs, you're get a full list of there peers.

Does kdawebservices have their hosting servers in the US or UK?

ThomasC

KDA is with Ultraspeed (http://www.ultraspeed.co.uk) down Redbus.
Not sure if they have servers in the US also.

fe-4-0-0.nacelle.router.ultraspeed.net shows on the traceroute.

Yeah, they used to have them in the US. They may be co-loing in Redbus now...

We used to have them with DataColo in Florida, in fact we still have a single solitary server with them. We started moving everything over to the UK some time back now, and at the end of January we completed the move. We now have racks in Redbus for all new customers, as it happens we're just in the process of getting our own suite sorted.
