Well with a terror alert set to high orange in the US couldn't there be problems with hosting companies...
Say there is (god forbid) a major attack on NYC or other major cities. I know many owners of hosting companie that operate out of NYC. If the owner and employees are injuried or killed by an attack what would happen with all the customers? I assume they would just go on to host if they have no support questions and not know anything is wrong; but what happens when the dedicated server cuts everything off...
I think something like that would result in tons and tons of my hosts ran away with my money threads here on WHT. What could be done to protect the host in such a situation?

well once the attack has been plastered all over the news i think there clients will understand. unless they are totaly hartless.
i do hope it doesnt happen.
now unless they dont have insurence on there systems then the host is SOL. but some of the big guys that do dedi servers and colo (like maby RS, serverbeach, ect ect) do have that. (im just assuming here)
so they could be back up and running in a few day to a cupple of weeks.
but i could be worng here.

If something like WTC happens again, I believe most people wouldn't be worring if their site is online unless perhaps if the customer's site is a well known news site...
Just my opinion anyway...
What happens if an earthquake hits? Flood sweeps away LA? A Towering Inferno? A car accident. A Trees falling where someone hears and feels it. Lightening striking your web host, powder?
I am not sure the point of the post except to be an alarmist.

With accordance of the law, in most cases, customers will just have to pay the bill and move on to the next host because businesses usually do not guarantee service if a terrorist act directly affecta their business.
at the same time, based on the civil code of canada (may be different in the US), a company will be held resonsible and will have to pay their customers for differet kind of damages. although at the same time there are certain limitations, natural disasters and terrorist acts being one of those limitations.

I think those are called "Acts of God" in some TOSes, and hosts say that they're NOT liable for said acts of God. So, if your host's servers are hit by a rogue indoor hailstorm, there's nothing you can do but go elsewhere.
