View Full Version : site5 problems!
dlusion 05-21-2001, 04:26 PM I signed up with site5 a week and a half ago. I received no email conformation or anything like that. I waited for a couple days... still nothing. Since then I have emailed them several times and have gotten NOTHING. What is up with this? Its been over a week and a half, and i dont know wheather they charged my card or not. If anyone from site5 sees this, PLEASE ANSWER MY EMAILS, and let me know what is going on. I read here that site5 was one of the better shared hosting places. They say they will respond in 24 hours, but they havent. This is the problem with two or three guy operations, they dont know wtf they are doing. Next time I will go with a "professional" webhost.
Best Regards,
Ray
Wazeh 05-21-2001, 04:35 PM What you are describing is not consistent with what we hear abotu site 5. Their service is normally a good one.
Are you sure you gave them the correct email address? is your email working fine?
dlusion 05-21-2001, 04:49 PM I know, thats why im so surprised, im wondering whats wrong. The email address I gave them is correct. I have also emailed them and gotten nothing back. Still waiting for a reply:(
Best Regards,
Ray
Matt Lightner 05-21-2001, 04:50 PM Ray,
What is your domain name? I would like to look into the issue and see if there is a reasonable explanation for the problems you have described.

dlusion 05-21-2001, 04:59 PM Hello Matt,
The domain is bimmerforums.com . I signed up once with check as a means of payment, but then I signed up again with credit card a little later, I figured this was the problem, so I emailed you guys explaining what to do.
Best Regards,
Ray
mojotim 05-21-2001, 05:10 PM Just hope they don't put you on the Nexus server. Still can't access the features on NetAdmin on this server. I have given up with the support tickets because after almost a week and a half the problems is still not fixed. They know about so why bother sending another ticket. Oh well.

Ahh yes... I am quite familiar with this situation. ;)
First off, changing the payment method on an account would have normally taken us about 30 seconds to do. There is no need to submit an entirely new order simply to make a payment with a credit card. You should have sent an email to billing@site5.com and we could have taken care of this for you.
The reason it took a while to setup the account is because we already had an order that matched (almost exactly - including the domain name) the second order you submitted. Rather than completely erase your first account - including all data and configuration changes you had made - we opted to re-send you the information on your already existing account. In addition to this, the name on the credit card and the name on the account were not related in any way, which generally (but not always) suggests that the card is being used without cardholder authorization. This undoubtedly led to further delays in the account setup process, as we must first verify the validity of the order.
With regards to your emails not being answered, I have no explanation for this. However, I know for a fact that our sales department has re-sent your account activation email multiple times (as I get a carbon copy of every email sent by our billing system). The email address we have on file for your account is "ray@3jtech.com". Please notify me if this is not correct and I will change it for you.
In the future, rather than posting technical support issues to a public forum (which, by the way, is strictly against forum policy) I would recommend that you either (1) send an email to me regarding the problem. If nothing else, I can get you in touch with someone who can resolve the issue for you. (2) Send an email to our billing department (which you should have done in the first place to get your payment method changed - rather than re-ordering your account). Or (3) submit a new support ticket to the Site5 help desk at helpdesk.site5.com. I apologize if these contact methods were not made clear to you previously. I will have our website updated to provide future customers with more detailed contact information.
I have (just now) re-sent your welcome email yet again. Please notify me immediately at mlightner@site5.com if you have not received it.
Again, sorry about the confusion. :(
Best Regards,
Matt Lightner

Unfortunately NetAdmin on the Nexus server is having some problems. A replacement server was ordered last week, and should arrive late this week or early next. The new machine will be a dual 1GHz system with 2 GB RAM, and a six drive RAID 5 array. Immediately after it arrives, all customers currently on Nexus will be moved to the new system.
We will be sending out an announcement email to all customers on the Nexus server (later today, most likely).
Once again, sorry for the problems, and thanks for your patience. In the future, please feel free to email me directly if you are experiencing issues such as this, rather than posting them here. I'm sensing Chicken has his finger on the "lock thread" button right about now. :D

<Pushes Site Opening Date Up One Week From This Friday> Hopefully that will allow us to get things updated that rely on NetAdmin :)
And I hope I'm not the only one drooling over the new server.
I suppose sometimes accidents do equal improvement.
