I got my first client even before I started officially.
This client (a former employer) gave me 6 sites until I actually had another client.
This second client came almost after a month of effort.

Often , starting out is the most difficult time.
Somebody said something which goes like this
- Earning the first million is the most difficult. After that, it earns the next million..

just replace the 'million' with whatever is the appropriate amount depending on the industry, the country and so on..

Another perspective would be to replace the 'million' with 'customers'

Cheers,

Matra

No, you don't have to wait..... Go beat on some doors. Web Hosting is business - just like any other business you have to SELL.

Your first client (or first several) will more than likely be someone you know or make a personal contact with. Take a shower, put on some descent clothes - make up a nice brochure or business cards and call on as many businesses you can.

You'll get a few clients, make a few mistakes, hopefully learn from them and before you know it you'll be hiring people to handle all the work.

If you've ever done website design for anyone you should offer your hosting service to those people/companies. When we started offering hosting, we got a big "kick start" by bringing in about 2/3s of the past clients we had designed websites for.

According to me the best way to attract clients is to offer somthing others dont offer. What I Mean is that make those plans of yours a little better. Maybe increase the space & increase in POP email accounts will do the job. Dont Increase the bandwidth because it may cause you to go down in losses. I hopw you understand what i mean.
talking about our company, it took us hardly a week to attract our first client.

Best Of Luck

I don't think this will work. If everyone does this we all will have unlimited accounts.

I agree - we need to add value to our services, not just more perceived features. That is why the customer service is so lousy in our business. Everyone just adds more space or more bandwidth to their plans for a lower and lower price. They overload the servers to make a quick buck, don't address complaints, customers move to the next cheap host with an even more cynical attitude.

We need to raise the bar a bit - start to provide excellent customer service across the board and charge what we really need to make a fair and reasonable profit.
