Hello ppl,
Parallel to bad experience with Jumpline (see: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=11105&goto=nextoldest ) I had to go to wit's end with the other company involved in my domain name, too: Network Solutions.
All I need to do is to update my email address in their records. This seems to be next to impossible.
My institution changed its name, and the domain name in my email address changed, too. I still receive emails coming to the old email address, though.
16 May 2001:
I filled in NSI's request form to change my email contact. Its program sent an email to my old email address so that my reply would approve the change. Since my email was sent from my institution's new domain name, my reply was refused.
Sent a message to their support through a form on their site. Got autoresponder, with dumb answer.
17 May 2001:
Ok, checking NSI's support pages I realize: in case when the old email address does not work one should fax in a request to change the email. The fax should include copies from some documents (id, passport) that would confirm one's identity. Done. Expecting confirmation of fax, or even change in my record.
18 May 2001:
0 confirmation, 0 change. I decided to call them on the phone. Calling from Hungary first I dialed their 703+ number. It is just not operational - during US EST business hours. After 5 minutes of waiting for an operator or support person, no one showed up. Ok, I then dialed their 800 number. Great, I had the change to be connected to a living person. During the first 5 minutes a lady took my data, then decided to transfer me to a guy. I explained my case, he took my data, and finally told me that I should their form I used on 16 May to update my records.
Ok, I thought this latter guy might have changed something that would allow the program to accept my change request. Taking again the route I went the first day, but received the same response.
Since then I emailed them twice, but only received those autoresponders.
Ok, I know Network Solutions sucks, but how could I get rid of them? My domain is still registered by them. Eventhough I still have more than 1 year from my 2 years paid period with NSI, I would be willing to pay for a different company to take care of my domain.
Anyone have any idea how I could have NSI's attention or switch to a different organization?
Any and all inputs are welcome.
