WS_FTP pro has been my favorite for years.

just plain old ws_ftp (without the pro) is excellent.

bpftp is my choice (Bullet Proof FTP) it's still a relatively small download and has a lot of features, but my main love for it is rooted back several years ago, before I had broadband, BPFTP was (afaik) the first client to have REALLY GOOD auto-resume of downloads. Man downloading linux ISO's are a pain on dialup when you have to manually resume! bpftp earned my love by making this automatic long before the others did (hence "bullet proof").

i've used WS_FTP Pro for years as well. It's a very good program.

cuteftp is much better then ws_ftp in my opinion. I switched from Ws_ftp to cute ftp....

Definitely my favorite, I've been using it for over 3 years and I love it. It's not free, but worth the money.

My vote goes to SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com) I haven’t found anything better :)

windows commander does ftp in an easy way and u can use it for lots of things (i think last version is called total commander)

Use Flashfxp. Used to use Bpftp. Love them both.

I agree. I use it all the time for the websites I maintain as well as downloading things. It's free and the updates are free too, and they come quite often. I even included it in the webdesign book I uodated. :)

You should give FileZilla (http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla ) a try. It's similar to SmartFTP, but I prefer it since it's open and I like it's feel. Quite similar to the rest. I've used BPFTP, Cute, Smart, FXP, etc and they're all about the same if you're just transferring files back and forth.

I was wondering if someone was going to mention this one. I switched to this one after trying CuteFTP and WS FTP. After reinstalling Windows, once again, I'm going through FTP programs and have started using SmartFTP. It provides a nice, smooth windows interface and hopefully won't expire like CuteFTP seemed to do.

is smartftp free?

Don't seem like it. I like Flashfxp for a few features that I use often

- Copy URLs to clipboard
- Entering Commands to the ftp (e.g site commands)

Synchronizing, auto scheduling, multi-threaded downloads (can open up to 20 connections at once), ... you name it.

i had used flash FXP a couple of years ago, i've just tried it again and i won't be back to cuteFTP ;)

I am in favour of FtpDesktop as it integrated into explorer but thats my opinion..... Small and makes life easier :D

Transmit by Panic.com supports synchronisation. Problem is when the server time is different to your time.

I suggest using BulletProof FTP. It costs $20(last time I checked), but you can download a 30-day trial. Its a great program and I love it.

I have two FTP clients that I use. They are BlazeFTP and WS-FTP. If you prefer a no frills interace that just gets the job done, then go with WS-FTP. If you want something a little more fancy you can go with BlazeFTP. BlazeFTP can be found at flashpeak.com/blazeftp.

3dftp is very fast.

It's the fastest ftp client i have ever tried.

I use ws_ftp for internet.
For my LAN I use FTP Voyager, it allows more than one transfer at a time, as well as browsing while files are transfering.
